Okay Amestris, time for a roll call. As some of you have probably noticed, we have a bunch of spectral visitors aboard. Of the uninvited kind. So how many of you can see or sense spirits? How many of you have any defense against them or ability to affect them? Also, anyone who's got an idea how to get rid of these things, now would be the time to ( Read more... )

I...can see them. And hurt them. But I don't know how to get rid of them without killing them.

My first duty is to the ship, not to them. So if they become a threat I have no problem with killing them.

If they aren't hostile, I... I would rather not kill them, ma'am.

If they aren't hostile, there won't be a need.

I could conceivably come up with some way to fight them, but I doubt it's really necessary. The question we should be asking is why they're here. Something seems to be luring them in.

Yes, they're likely being lured or sent, but I've no idea which. I've asked Lieutenant Commander Ukitake to question them about this, but if you can communicate with them, ask away too. If you have any other ideas, don't be shy with them.

I caught your exchange with Lieutenant Commander Ukitake.

I can wield Flame Alchemy. Not sure how effective it'll be until I actually try it, though.

What course of action will you require us, the Quartermasters, to take?

Well, the security team should handle the reports of anything unusual and compiling their findings. If things get too hairy, I want the Quartermasters and Boatswains to round everyone into one of the cargo bays for easier defense. We still don't know whether these are being drawn or sent, if they'll be given some kind of attack order later. After the last round of sabotage I don't want to take any chances. I don't like them being spread throughout the ship, especially near the engines.

In the mean time just stay alert and calm any dignitaries who start pitching fits.

Understood. I'll pass the word on, if they haven't already read this transmission.

Zeetha. I don't think I've mentioned this before, but I can see them. Actually I... draw them. That's why I'm here in my cabin - it's safer. For the whole ship, I mean.

I don't know why there should be so many, though! Normally there aren't nearly so many in the air! I wish I could do something to help but I've never been able to fight them - just attract them. With this many, there might be something else drawing them, but I can't imagine what.

Ok, good to know. Now, let me get this straight. You know you CAN attract them, but you don't think you're doing it now? Is that the only reason you're staying in your cabin? You're not really sick with anything?

Also, did you happen to get anything for Lunasa with a mana crystal in it?

No-- I attract them all the time. It's something in my blood. I don't really know why it happens myself. But I promise you, it's never been this bad before! This isn't just... just me.

I'm staying here to keep away from them, and to keep away from everyone else. The wards in my cabin help a little, so at least I won't be making the problem worse.

Er, no, I didn't get anything like that... why?

I dunno, Jean gave me a...hair bow with a crystal in it that's supposed to 'boost your defense'. I wondered if one of them could be boosting your ability to attract spirits. Lots of mana crystals get sold with nebulous qualities advertised, but the way they work is quite technical. Most people just don't know enough to understand them, myself included, so you can get some unexpected surprises.

Now, wards. Could you ward something like a plane? I don't want to leave you vulnerable, but the only way to know for certain if it's you is to get you a distance away from the ship.

I can!

I can't do anything myself, but Sanshi and Gouran can!

Who's Sanshi and Gouran? Are they friends of yours?

They're Shirei -- summons! They're both demons, so they can see and hurt ghosts if they need to.

Are they your summons? You have the power to control them?
