TAN, DON'T BURN, MEGGERS!!!!!

Georgia people, go nuts. I have this Chicago friend who actually looks forward to getting a sunburn. Personally, I think that she's finally crossed the line from ignorant to just plain insane. She's been in the cold, windy city for far too long. My other friend Megan (d-group) responds first with the following:

To Vicki's Chicago Friend,

Ok girlie, Believe you me, wear sunscreen. I worked at a car wash last spring and I had no sun screen. I was so incredibly burnt...lobster was an understatement. I have lived here in the south my whole life, you'd think I tan easily. I do, but that was just ridiculous. I had a shirt on when I took off my shirt. I had water blisters and they would burst and it hurt so bad. I had to sleep with my shirt off because it would stick to me when I layed in bed and hurt my oh so tender skin. I couldn't move without hurting. My aloe vera was soaked up as soon as it touched my skin. If you want to tan wear like an SPF 15, if you still get red, move to like a 30. You will still get sun believe you me. Getting a little pink on your face or shoulders isn't so bad, but redness sucks. So heed the advice of someone who's been burnt before...Avoid it at all costs, put on some sun screen.

*cringes* I must admit...you are not the first. But at this time I'm gonna assume it's, possibly, MINOR sunburn that you want, because...I can't for the life of me understand why someone would WANT a sunburn that gave them painful blisters and such. Good grief...

Hey cutie! I didn't even know you had a livejournal! Now I can keep up with your life even though I don't see you!! Ok, you can tell your friend that both my aunt and my grandfather have had skin cancer from being in the sun too much (my aunt lived in miami and my grandfather is a golfer) and they had to go through several incredibly painful surgeries to get harmful spots removed! And those are some of the least serious cases! Besides, sunscreen smells good! :) And boys like tan girls, not burnt girls! hehe. Hope you get through to her!! Love you and miss you! - Sarah Hughes

I never said sun burns were a good thing.. and I'm not intending on blisters.. just redness.. cause i'm so white...

and to Vickers- besides all my tears yesterday and going to a wake and all that.. this cracked me up... Good luck on your mission and I'll be there in 10 days!

Brown looks better than red...on skin, that is. Refer to Sarah Hughes' post/reply. ;-)
Good. A portion of this mission is to make you smile, since you've had a rough time lately.
