"They're going to be here in like, an hour, Peter. You have to leave." Sasha has conveniently packed him a bag for the weekend, which happens to be sitting on the counter. She points to it from her place at the table as she helps Henry feed himself spoonfuls of spaghetti. He's always the last one to finish eating, especially when it's a messy dinner. "I don't know why you're making such a big deal out of this. I never care when you run off for a boys night with Nathan."
"We never have a whole weekend," Peter argues back. He's washing the dishes, getting the apartment ready for the group of women who are about to kick him out of his own home. And while he has met the 'Fab Five' and likes at least half of them, he does not like the idea of being told to spend his weekend off with Miles. "Can't I sleep here? I'll annoy Nathan during the day. I don't mind that part."
"But it's supposed to be a girls sleepover," she half explains, half whines. Henry giggles at her as he shovels more food into his mouth, then holds his hand up, signaling for her to wait while he chews his food. "You know, the last one we're going to have for a long time because I let some guy get me pregnant and pretty soon we'll be taking care of a daughter who isn't going to want to sleep through the night." Yes, she's perfectly fine with guilting him into this. She figures she deserves a little break sometimes.
"You want Henry to stay. He's a boy." He finishes washing the pasta bowl and pulls a towel out of the drawer to start drying everything. "Miles and I would get along a lot better if we had Henry there." They've already had this discussion a few times, but Peter knows it's worth trying again.
"Ima boy," Henry nods his agreement, pressing his tomato-sauce covered fingers down onto the table to make a print. "A big boy."
"You're my big boy," Sasha agrees, wiping his hands with a paper towel. "Most of the girls only see him every few months. Lorelai is the only one who sees him a few times a week." And that has everything to do with the fact that Lorelai and Miles live down the hall, and Rachel, Radha, and Angie live in Los Angeles. She's quiet for a few moments, watching Henry clean his plate while she makes her decision. "Can I come steal him when I miss him?" Because if she can't, she's not even going to consider it.
"Yeah. You can come steal me if you miss me too," he agrees with a grin. "You're not used to sleeping alone."
"I'm not going to be sleeping alone, Peter." He's so silly that she actually laughs. "I'm sleeping in my cozy lesbian love pile. The dogs will be lucky if there's any room on the bed for them." And if there's not, they have their own beds on the floor to sleep on. Sasha can't worry about that. She cleans Henry's hands again when he sets his fork in his bowl, for the last time until dessert. ...Which he'll have at Miles' apartment, with the boys.
She's not sure about plans for the weekend now.
"Lezian love file," the little boy echoes with a giggle. "Canipease have a white cookie?"
Peter's on it before she can get to her feet, opening up the bear-shaped cookie jar and getting out one of the sugar cookies that Mac put in there before he left for the day. They're stars with green sprinkles - Henry's favorite. "Here you go, Buddy." He hands Henry his cookie and then takes one for himself. "We should bring these. In case I need to bribe him. Hey, Tex is a boy. Is he coming too?" He doesn't think it's wrong to ask, considering that she mentioned not having room for them.
"Tex too!" Henry says excitedly, his mouth full of cookie.
"You know, this really isn't fair." Sasha half jokes, walking over to get her own cookie out of the cookie jar. "Because when Lorelai and I decided to make this a 'No Boys Allowed' kind of thing, we were specifically talking about you and Miles. Now you're taking away my little boy and my best guard dog, all because I wanted you out of the house for a couple of days. You fight dirty, Petrelli." She would make a joke about what he could take from her if they ever got a divorced, but that's only funny when Henry isn't in the room with them."No wonder I want you out."
"You're sending me to stay with Miles. If you had to do it, you'd fight too," Peter points out, helping Henry out of his chair and picking him up. "We need to go get you packed, okay? Mommy's being a girl for the weekend."
"I'm always a girl!" she yells back as he starts carrying Henry down the hall. She can't argue the point he made about having to stay with Miles. She would fight it too, and she'd take the kid and the dog. She just wants to know how Peter got so good at winning arguments with her.
The only thing scarier than that is the fact that her son is going to be spending the entire weekend with Peter and Miles.
She needs to do a better job of thinking her plans through next time.
