A conversation between two sisters.
Wanda is walking along the shore when her phone rings. "Hello, Lorna."
"Wanda, I wanted to check in with you and make sure you're okay. I don't know how close you really were to John..." Lorna's voice sounds tired. Not everyone would notice, her sister is doing her utmost to hide the depth of her own emotion, but Wanda hears the truth.
"Pyro," she answers. Wanda wasn't close to John. Wanda had never even met John. But Pyro, Pyro she remembers.
"...Pyro...Er." Lorna is hesitant now; Wanda wonders how much courage and coffee it took to get her to make this call at all.
"Daddy loved him."
"Er. Yes, well." Lorna clearly has no answer to that. But it is all Wanda has to offer. "Are you okay?"
"No." Wanda does not remember okay.
"Do you want to come stay with me?" Apprehension is evident in her sister's voice.
"No. I have to be here a little longer."
"...Okay." And now relief. And yet, apprehension remains. "Don't...I mean, you might be tempted to - to -" A heavy pause. "John is dead and nothing can bring him back, Wanda."
"I can." A simple fact. Nothing else.
"Wanda, please -" Lorna is pleading.
"But I don't have to."
"No, you don't and you shouldn't, you -" Relief again but still pleading.
"He’s not dead." A simple fact. Nothing else.
"...Wanda, we would all like to believe -" Now there is sympathy in her voice. Sympathy and pity. Wanda hates that voice.
"I'm tired."
"Wanda..."
"Everything is all right, Lorna." There is a small hiccup in the connection. Another call for her sister. Wanda smiles. "Tell your elf I say hi."
"What-?" Wanda closes the phone. She returns to walking along the shore.

The connection broken, Lorna stares at her screen, the incoming call blinks: Orlando. How does she know these things? Making a mental note to mention the conversation to Jean, Lorna shakes her head and answers the call.
