2007 Camry SE V6 ~ $24k mpg: 22/31
2006 Civic Si ~ $21k mpg: 23/32
2002-2004 WRX sedan ~ $17k mpg: 20/27

hp break-down:
Camry 268 @ 6200 rpm (3485lb)
Si 197 @ 7800 rpm (2877lb)
WRX varies (227hp) (3100lb)

Listed in order of practicality; WRX, Camry, Si is my prefered order of lust.

For my referance only:
Si - best mpg by very slightly, has a nice feel, nimble & small, pbb high insurance, good sound system, LIGHT!

Camry - a v6 with the same mpg as the Si, pbb lowest insurance of the three, only as AT F1 style paddles, no folded seats that I've heard,

WRX - no completely folded rear seats, highest horsepower (I think), AWD, seemed bulky but haven't been in one yet, used but will have cheapest sticker price, high insurance pbb (still gotta ask Simon), I've heard it has a good stock sound system, since it's used, could get a deal for one equipped with Tein coilovers =D, good power-to-weight ratio,

All will use Premium, though the percent difference between premium and regular is a lot less now.

Also considering 2.5i Need to go test driving to see whether I like turbo or n/a. and whether I want to shell out an extra $0.05 per gallon. and the insurance premium

more to add later as I research more.

mazda 3?

BTW, the Lexus LS has an EIGHT speed tranny, talk about overkill
