Know what I liked about Spain? I could be anyone I wanted. No one knew who I was. To them, I might just be a weird asian kid. In fact, I tried to be as Hong Kongnese as I possibly could. Here, everyone expects you to speak english. I hate that. It's like being trapped. I enjoyed Spain beacause it was a time when I could be myself for a change.
I'm in an identity crisis right now. I'm actually ashamed to be a U.S. citizen. At first, I saw America as like a technological revolutionized place. After eight years of living here, I've finally become sick of how low tech everything is. Look at our imported cars, they've all been handicapped from their original specs just to "reduce emissions." Our phones are so crappy that a Moto is a good brand here, and everyone likees the Razr phone because it's "sexy." Our cellphone companies are making a huge fortune right now by selling half-assed plans; and we don't even have 3G yet!!
I hate how our oil companies have implemented gouging, controversal to what they might claim. As soon as Congress started their investigations onto this matter, gas prices dropped an average of $0.20 per gallon within a week.
I hate our implemention of public transports. waiting 30 min for the bus to arrive? That's bullshit. I know we can't have a bus every 5 min like in Hong Kong, but 30 min a bus is kinda stretching it.
Ever since China hit it's technological boom, the US has been surpressing it's growth by limiting oil supplies. Isn't this unconstitutional? We're preventing them from life and happiness.
In conclusion, I'd like to say that America is a dream. In that dream, it's a beautiful place with job oppertunities and technological advances such as biochemistry. In real life, it's a stuggling child trying to impress it's older siblings by lying.
I can say with a firm voice that I'm ashamed to be an American citizen.
