Well, I had to say I was outright rejected, but...
So I was put on the waiting list for the Ph.D. in English at the University of Toronto. Ok, I can wait.
Then I found out that I was awarded the Ontario Graduate Scholarship--hardly prestigious but still respectable.
I needed to let them know if i could accept the award, so I queried U of T.
Apparently all the positions have been filled. I have been officially rejected from the program.
I'm disappointed and hurt, of course. Maybe not as horrified as I imagined.
Mostly i'm just staring down at a big heaping helping of "So what the hell do I do now?"
