I pretty much agree with this - especially since most news reporting has been either reduced to sensationalist sound bites or drawn out into endless repetition of the latest rumor or speculation. I find myself to be in a much better place mentally if I stay away from things like CNN altogether and also avoid the more "emotional" articles and just read a few of the more factual.
I really picked the day to post this, before the explosions at the Boston Marathon. I swear I have no prophetic skills.
I am the same, better mental place when I don't watch, but at the same time, I am very susceptible, especially if there is something open ended happening.
This was a bad week for a lot of people. I guess that's what gets me.
so i know it's a few days after you posted this but:
i haven't watched the news since the school shootings in Columbine. (well there was this one day in September 2011 that i had the news on longer than was good for me)
i do get headlines from the NY Times in my email, but that's pretty much it. i'll hear the big stories on the music radio station i listen to at work...
but that's it. the news makes me angry and i feel like i want to throw things at the stupidity of some of the things on there. i'm just a little less crazy (but it's the good kind of crazy. heh.)
