[ Cephiro is seated crosslegged on the bed, looking calm and contemplative and wearing Jedi robes. ]
Hello. I am called Cephiro, and I have an existential question.
... Actually, this may be better asked of the Senator we apparently have? Representation in the local government is a good thing - and better him than me - but I wonder what purpose that speech served?
Do we, as a group, stand for anything? I was under the impression that we were a group of people brought together under strange circumstances with little in common aside from our mode of arrival. I understand that we look like a liability unless we present the appearance of being united and on the side of the Republic, but there is such a thing as promising too much. In the end, we're just people. We're not - shouldn't be - the great hope of the galaxy.
Was it really wise to imply that we all have extra-normative abilities of some kind? It may or may not be true - although resurrection probably counts by itself - but there is a difference between having such abilities and choosing to use them for the sake of the Republic and being under popular pressure to do so.
... Granted, if I could fly I would certainly find any excuse I could to do it all the time. Including during press conferences, if I were a political figure.
That's probably why I don't have the ability to fly and am not a political figure.
Nevertheless, while I understand that his speech was probably meant to inspire more than anything else, I can't help but be a little bit skeptical. Rather than inspiring me to action, I thought it raised a lot of questions about the direction things are going.
[ ... He doesn't really have a conclusion for that little impromptu speech, so he just sort of awkwardly reaches over to turn off the datapad. ]
