[The feed turns on in mid jerk, a brief view of an armored turian arm retreating from the screen before Garrus comes into focus. Someone just accidentally hit the broadcast button

[Thane will walk up by the end of the post, commenting when it's over.] I believe I have the inventory categorized. If anything goes missing it will be know. [hell yeah drell memory B)]
[Garrus sometimes forgets how good Thane's memory is, but he flicks a grin the drell's way when he arrives.] If the computer system ever goes down, at least we'll have you.
I still don't like the thought of leaving a warehouse of firearms undefended in the middle of a war, though. [But oh well :| They'd think of something.
Neither do I- I'm afraid we have little choice but to find guards and take care of whoever might use this opportunity to their advantage once we return. [He regards his datapad- perhaps an Outworlder for a guard. They'd have to see.]
It has been a long time since we went to battle again. I believe the proper term is 'some things never change.'
[It all depends on who they would trust with their hardware :|a Garrus can count the people he would trust with his guns on one hand, and they're all going to war :(]
We'll just have to ask Tali to put in extra security. [Hrm conundrums :( Garrus hesitates, about to say something, but he changes his mind at the last moment.
Just because they were leaving didn't mean this had to go wrong.] Some things do. [Another pause.] So, Thane. I wanted to ask you something.
Perhaps we can be very clear with the warehouse owners that missing inventory will not go unnoticed. [sometimes the corrupt of this city needed a good, firm reminder :|
He looks over at the question- well, statement more like it.] You certainly do not need my permission to do so. [dry B) ]
I can think of a few ways we could make that very clear. [Good firm reminders were something Garrus enjoyed giving >3]
Ah. Well. [It's... not like Garrus to hesitate. Or. Look this awkward. It's a side of him usually only Shepard got to see, but honestly, he was a little out of his depth here. He had no idea what drell courtship customs were like and there was no extranet for him to research the subject. Somehow, he wasn't sure that just asking 'so what do you think about threesomes' would be the best way to broach the subject. So he'd work up to that.] What do you think about Shepard?
Ah, no. I mean yes, she is, but I meant-- physically. [Are you into humans :| And Turians. Him too, this is important.
He rubs a hand over his face, getting the faint idea that he was screwing this up. Why was he asking? Because he and Shepard both cared about him a great deal, and Garrus didn't think he should be alone anymore.]
[Thane's brow quirks. That... was an interesting question. He continues to regard Garrus curiously, unsure of what he was getting at here. Usually he'd back away from answering that- knowing Garrus and Shepard's relationship it would be little wonder to his reasoning. Still, he trusted Garrus would only ask if he truly wished to know the answer.
Strange indeed.] If you mean her health I am uncertain, but I doubt that is what you mean. Do I find her attractive? Yes, she is- as I said, she is a remarkable woman. One would be blind to not see she is a beautiful one as well.
Re: action!popaheatsinkDecember 12 2011, 10:19:20 UTC
[This would be so much easier if you were a turian, Thane :|
Garrus exhales in an uncomfortable chuckle. Okay. Good, one obstacle down.] All right, good. [He catches Thane's expression, now, and his laugh is a bit more genuine.] I'm not trying to put you on the spot. I'm just asking, theoretically-- considering there are no other drell around-- you might be open to experimenting. With other species.
Thane stares at him a moment, almost expecting a grin and some good natured teasing. He hadn't socialized in a very long time, ten years of solitude still left him rather rusty when it came to the nuances of friendship. He felt he must be missing something, some social cue that explained this rather strange behavior.
When no such clue came he decided to take the offer seriously- he wasn't dense, he could understand what Garrus seemed to be driving at.] The drell prefer to mate within their species, out of loyalty born of need to keep our small numbers from diminishing. That said, I have never believed in judging a soul based on the body it was encased in.
Garrus, what is it you wish to ask me? [He sounds more patient and curious than anything]
Re: action!popaheatsinkDecember 12 2011, 10:39:36 UTC
[Maybe if it were anyone other than Garrus, Thane might've been better able to react to this type of situation. Another turian would have asked outright, but Garrus felt he needed to sort've-- ease Thane into the idea, maybe. He thought he had done a fairly good job.]
I figure most species prefer to mate within their own species, [He replies, drily.] And putting it that way makes this all seem too clinical, but-- Everyone can use another warm body every now and then. [Or two.
Garrus rubs a hand over the unscared plates of his face.] Just to be clear, it would be me, too. Both of us. If you-- if you wanted.
I suppose you are right. [Thane answers- it had been a very long time indeed since he had another warm body, as Garrus put it. He blinked rapidly, stopping the inevitable memories of Irikah from surfacing. It was very rare he allowed his memories to slip out, and he found himself realizing his trust in Garrus had grown to the extent he would allow himself the lack of defenses needed for them to slip. Just like he had let his memories slip with Shepard- the realization was... curious.
He regards Garrus another moment before asking:] I must know before I answer- is this an offer you both make on equal footing?
[Garrus tilts his head.] Obviously. [Well, maybe not, but--] I wouldn't ask if I didn't want it, and I wouldn't suggest it if Shepard wasn't all right with it. [Pause.] Although I suppose I haven't actually asked about anything yet. So, uh-- Thane, would you be interested in joining Shepard and I sometime?
[Thane contemplates this for a long moment, expression unreadable as ever. It had been a long time since he shared anyone's bed, let alone the bed of two others. There was a time he would have considered himself adventurous, the same time he looked on now as youthful ignorance.
Would it be so bad? He wouldn't pretend he wasn't lonely sometimes, left only with Irikah's memory and a dwindling liftetime. He was a different man than the one who married Irikah, he would not pretend some guilt over faithlessness. He cared deeply about Shepard and Garrus, and it was entirely possible he had only weeks left to enjoy their company.
He glances back at Garrus.] If you would both have me I would accept the invitation.

[Wow that frog stare is intense
Garrus just waits, shifting his feet uneasily. Damn, he feels like a fresh recruit all over again, trying to woo some older officer. He tells himself that he won't mind if Thane refuses-- he'll understand, certainly, that much is true-- but there's an anxiety there he wasn't prepared for. Maybe the offer wasn't as casual as he'd originally thought.
How would Shepard have handled this? Much smoother, most likely. Oh well. The damage had already been done.
He's preparing himself to face rejection when Thane speaks again. Garrus blinks, his mandibles widening in surprise a moment. Oh.] Really? [A pause, and he grins.] Definitely. You're welcome anytime.
Ah-- no pressure, by the way. Whenever you're ready is fine.

After a moment of consideration he answers.] She is a strong leader and good friend. [He pauses again] She is a remarkable woman.
