001 [VIDEO]

[ There's a shirtless teenager on your screen who looks remarkably like that kid from the Taylor Swift video, er... well... There's an upside-down shirtless teenager on your screen, looking at the datapad like it has somehow hideously offended him just by existing and having far too many knobs than what one would reasonably expect. At first, his ( Read more... )

Welcome to Corsucant.

If you you don't count the whole thing where you're trapped in time, it's pretty far from most definitions of prisons.

[Why, yes, here, have somebody who hangs out in prison a lot, herself. SHe knows that reaction.]

Thanks? [ Still thinks you're all nutjobs ]

Trapped in what? [ You're crazier than the other two, aren't you? But he's pinged by prison. ] Prison's not so... comfortable.

[Well, he's not incorrect, in this case... Very much crazier.]

What year is it where you just were?

And you might be surprised. There are some very comfortable, even lush prisons.

1962? [ Said like this should be obvious to you ]

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of 'prison'?

Well. In that case the words might not mean nothing, but... Let's say that it's a long time ago and a galaxy far, far away. Way before recorded Earth history, I would guess.

[eyebrows up.] Not if you still can't get out.

[ Yeeep, Star Wars references are pretty much completely lost on him. And yeah, you're not helping that crazy case. ] ...Doesn't exactly look like ancient civilization.

So it's barely prison.

Oh, my dear, you have no idea how many civilizations have risen and fallen before the one where you grew up. It's so ancient that people in the twentieth century AD never even knew about it. Well, not until the late seventies until a few films were made and a whole trend started. But that is neither here nor now.

This place? Other than in time, it is no prison at all. The one I meant... let us say that what physical comforts there were, they were offset by the wardens, and the labour required.

[ You just... completely lost him. He spends good, looong, minute just... staring. What even are you lady. Maybe he'll ask more about those prisons sometime when he can... understand a single word you're saying. ]

This supposed to make sense any time soon?

Only if you dabble in archaeology or time travel. Interested?

I... don't. Sorry, over my head.

[Gentler.] That's all right, too.

My name is River Song. And you can get some clothes from the robot- they're called droids - in your room. So long as you're not particular about the shape and cut. You can get pickier later.

This place has a lot of things that had no parallels yet in the sixties. But if you want, I can show you how to find the history of this time and place as relevant to us - a nice young Professor Charles Xavier made a beautiful job of putting the information together.

[ A-Aww, River, you're a sweetie ] Alex. Summers.

[ The frustrated edge to his voice wears out, now that she's making sense and offering to help. It's appreciated. ]

Yeah, that'd be- [ Oh, Charles you say? ] You know the Professor?

Pleasure to meet you, Alex Summers. I hope you get to find your stay here not entirely unpleasant.

[Big smile.] Oh, yes. The Doctor of Archaeology in me couldn't help appreciating the amount of systematic work he'd put into some research.

I didn't know he comes from the sixties, but then, I believe he was here already when I arrived, he would have had time to get accustomed to the level of technology.

Hope I find it short.

[ Not planning on hanging out for long. But his lips twitch, almost becoming a brief smile. Almost. ] Yeah, he does that.

Already here? When was that? [ He just say Charles earlier that day... ]

Good luck with that. Revan is such a charmer, but I don't think he's very eager to accommodate requests. Although I might be wrong.

[HAH. She'll get you to smile yet, young Summers]

Well. A few weeks ago. [Catches the look, and her mouth twists.] That doesn't mean anything with time travel, you know. He can be return to nearly the next moment after he was taken from.

Any clue where we can find him?

[ :| You can try, lady ]

Oh, right, time travel. So... back home? Is stuff going forward without us? [ Because, while they weren't in Cuba anymore, it didn't really seem like a great time for him to go missing. ]
