[Locked against Anakin, no real reason.]

[The view is looking down into a box containing a spukamas - a creature with a size and shape not too unlike those of a housecat, though it distinctly is not - and her two blind, unfinished-looking young kits. She is briskly washing them with her pointed raspy tongue as they suckle at her belly, and purrs ( Read more... )

Hey, those things kinda look like Snarf. [Laughter.] Sorta.

Where I come from, animals like that were considered worthy companions for the royal family. My Snarf was a good listener; good company, when I didn't have anyone else around.

Animals usually are. These guys are pretty common - they're smart but real independent and willful, they have poison claws, they catch vermin...

[He laughs happily.] Yeah, I rather like animals.

My Snarf doesn't have poison claws, but he's pretty good about finding food, be it small creatures, fish, or fruit.

I'm sure these will serve you well. They'll have different senses, I suppose, so they might even warn you of danger. At least, Snarf was always pawing at me when he got a bad feeling about something.

What's not to like?

I don't think it's going to be like that. Not... serving. More informal, I think. My friend Cen says they're smart enough to learn commands, but choose not to obey a lot.

I guess a pet can be like a friend. They might not obey, but they'll help you out, if they decide they like you.

They might, sure! When they're older. I don't know if I can keep any of them, they might run off, but not until the kits can run around on their own.

Yeah, kits like that need their mom. [Don't make him remember whatever unrevealed thing took his Mom from him.]

Do they like milk? I've found a handful of different milks in the markets, but none are quite what we had at home. I don't think they'd really leave a place where they got regular meals. Would they?

I've heard you can raise them by hand if their moms are gone and you have to, but I don't have to.

Don't know. Either. I'll find out, I'm sure.

Sure, cubs can be raised without their parents. My brother's adopted. [Sneer.]

You can try different foods and see what they like.

[He saw that sneer.] What's wrong with being adopted? [Luke is adopted.]

It's not adoption. It's my brother. [He growls, just thinking about Tygra.]

I don't know if you have siblings, but- Tygra's sooo competitive, and sooo perfect. I'm the one who has this responsibility! I have to be King, and he just keeps talking about how he could do everything better. But, he doesn't actually have to be in my place!

[Blinks. And Luke's nature kicks in.]

Maybe he's frustrated. Maybe he wants to be challenged and it's not happening, and he doesn't feel important. - I mean, yeah, I get that it's annoying, though.

Wha-? [Think about Tygra's feelings?]

How should I know how he feels? He acknowledges that I am King, but he's always questioning orders, arguing, and- He flirts with Cheetara!

I don't know how much importance he could want. He's older, taller, faster, stronger- more charming!

[Sorry dude.]

Does - uh, Cheetara mind? Or does it matter what she thinks?

Those're just physical things, right? Whatever happens to him, it sounds like he's jealous he won't ever get to be king. Not of the same thing as you. Unless he gets rid of you, maybe, but it doesn't sound like he wants that. Does he?

I'm sure he does stupid things and sometimes they're just to make you mad, I'm not saying you should just shrug it all off [although this is often what Luke does], it's just, most of the time people have reasons.

Of course it matters what Cheetara thinks! [But he's infatuated with her, so he wants her to choose him.]

[Sigh.] Tygra's not like that. He's always had my back, except when the argument is between us. He's my brother, part of my crew. I don't really want to fight him. He just makes me so mad!

I don't think he knows how I just don't need to hear it from him! I'm already aware of my mistakes.

That happens with a lot of people. I see it all the time back home. [Though he suspects deep down that most of the people he know wouldn't have his back, so he disengages from serious arguments.]

If you told him about that, d'you think he'd stop, or just argue?
