002 ♚ two for one video
[ So Erik's gotten the feed mostly figured out, no thanks to some large amount of time tinkering with the damn thing and Charles being unhelpful helpful with his constant use of it to talk to several of the new arrivals. He focuses the feed onto himself, sitting at a table in the Jedi library, Charles is behind him, rifling through an impressive stack of datacards.
Erik's looking at the feed pretty seriously, as his request is anything but a joke, curt and to the point. ]
I hear there's a few sellers, [ A choice word, really. He knows the type of people he's looking to attract. ] that can get me certain materials, no questions asked. [ As if you'd really want to ask questions, but you can certainly try -- Charles will be more than helpful in that regard.
It’s a strange request, Erik is aware of that much, though as far as he’s concerned, one that’s an absolute necessity. His points are clear and ordered, not much of a beat between them as he knows anyone willing to undertake the task isn’t likely to make mistakes. Or so he hopes -- doing so around Erik is hardly the intelligent thing. ]
Certain metal alloys, preferably two different compounds. I can provide specifics as to the metal if you’re interested, as I’m not entirely assured that the elements are the same here as back on Earth.
In addition, I’d like a few panels of rosewood and maple. If no suitable variation is found, I can make do with alabaster - white and black, respectively. I’m certain those two should be abundant at the least.
[ There’s a pause, and Erik looks to Charles, searching for any moral indicator for what he’s about to say. As the brief pause draws out, Charles looks up from two datacards in his hand and blinks at Erik and then gives a small cuff of a laugh. ]
I presented my concerns with this project. You are intent upon it regardless...
[ Charles makes a carry on motion with his fingers. Of the many battles of will he engages in with Erik, this one was a fairly minor skirmish as both sides held a stake in the outcome. ]
In this case your concerns, while appreciated, only serve as a detriment, Charles. [ He gives the man another knowing look, intended as a private gesture, before turning back to the screen, continuing his request. ]
I have no qualms about the cost of this, only that it holds a certain degree of significance to me, so I trust anyone who undertakes this would be, at least, truthful.
[ Besides -- with Charles around he'll just make sure for Erik, okay? He glances back at Charles, an unspoken conversation passing through them as Erik looks for the confirmation of the finer details of his offer.
Perhaps it is the weight of that look or some small something else, which has Charles’s eyes coming back up to meet Erik’s. He’s not making any promises that would preclude drawing the line at body parts, murder or servitude. ]
