[Tenel Ka is in the process of twisting her hair back into braids, one hand braiding as the other hand holds the datapad up]

It seems as though in the...excitement of the past few weeks, I had missed the announcement of the planet Dathomir being open to visitors. [There's a barest hint of fondness in her tone; Dathomir is one of her home planets, ( Read more... )

Where can a man go to find a female who will claim him?

[There is pretty much no visible reaction to his words on her face] That would depend on the man, and the woman. The Witches of Dathomir have a tradition of kidnapping their husbands. They are less likely to do so if he appears to already be married. [But not guaranteed :'|]

Personally, I see no downside to either scenario but I appreciate your warning and will act accordingly.

Most do not take so kindly to having their freedom curtailed.

Wait, why? Is it some kind of male harem planet or something?

[She frowns slightly] I am unaware of its current status in this time. In my own time it is a matriarchal world.

Oh. Well sounds awkward.
I mean, it's fine if it's tradition and all. Though it wouldn't if the husbands are miserable

Ah. It is unlikely the the women of Dathomir would be overly concerned with your approval. [Her tone is matter of fact, not antagonistic or anything] They do as they will.

[a faint smile] I would think so. Others have not.

I may just let Sam and Dean loose there and see how long they last.

Ah. Ahah. I think that you would not be likely to see them again, if you chose to do so.

What's it like there? Aside from having rancors?

[...don't let him go there. Don't ever let him go there.]

Much of it is still given over to nature, even in my time. The human population is small and matriarchal. There are Force users there, although they are not of the Jedi Order; the inhabitants have long since splintered into various clans. I believe I mentioned my grandmother was Dathomiri, last time we spoke - my mother was also a Witch of Dathomir, and it is through her line that I inherited my abilities in the Force. I spent much of my childhood there, and have many fond memories of the place. [She ties off another braid, still one handed, before tugging at it slightly] I am currently braiding my hair in the traditional Dathomiri fashion.

[Eheh.]

[He's fascinated.]

So... tribal? Was it always tribal? The humans must have got there sometime. Are they colonists, or is it less official? Do you suppose they haven't developed the culture you knew yet?

Fact. It is tribal, but I am unsure if this was always the case. History has never been my forte, and it has been...some time, since I was able to focus on Dathomir. The legend goes that every human currently on planet during my time could trace their ancestry to a single Jedi and her daughters, although this is likely just that, a legend. I believe Palpatine attempted to establish a penal colony at some point, but the witches of Dathomir have since gained ownership of the planet, so to speak, and forged ties with the Hapes Consortium.

I admit that it is unlikely the culture I know is yet present. In this matter, however, I felt it best to be cautious.

This is a fact. I cannot speak for it now, but my memories of it are fond.

I would love to hear more about it. I come from a female-dominant culture myself.

Ah. The Witches of Dathomir are Force-sensitive women who have been separated into clans for generations now. They are nominally ruled by a queen, but for the most part each clan sees to her own affairs.
