Nope, pretty much a straight line. At least, for each person it's a straight line. Where it grabs you from, though, can be pretty random. He could be from a week after you left, or six months before you met, or ten years from you. Bit mad, really.
Y'could say that. I'm with a past version of your Doctor. He- it's a bit of a long story.
[As much as she's scared of something like Apalapachia happening again, she's not fond of the idea of staying in one place for so long. She hasn't done that since she set off with the Doctor.]
Well that's good to hear. Mostly. There's no time traveling then?
Nope. My Doctor's here, and he hasn't got the TARDIS, so things are pretty much stationary. He'll probably be able to help, though. We're sort of working on getting everyone back to their proper time streams.
[She shrugged.]
Ten of them, I think. Eleven, I suppose, with your Doctor. Maybe more, depends on how many times he regenerates between the one I'm with and the one you're with. Could be a thousand years between the two of us.
[She... looks a bit worried, herself.] Can't really build a TARDIS. Those things- they're alive. They're... born or something. I dunno. But we're not gonna get stuck here. Trust me. The Doctor's too afraid of domestic to let that happen. Just gonna take some time, but we'll all get back.
[That last comment, though, gets a laugh. Oh man. They're gonna get along fine.]
Sort of, yeah. Mine wears suits and trainers. And the one before that wore jumpers and a leather jacket. The same outfit over and over again, just changed the jumper. No matter what time period or planet.
Yeah, he... well, he does this thing, when he's about to die, he doesn't. He changes. Every cell in his body changes, and he gets a new face and a new personality, and he comes back to life. Regenerating, is what he calls it. He started out as this big-eared Northern bloke, ended up being a skinny guy with really great hair.
[Amy's brought right back to being invited to see her Doctor die. And how he doesn't regenerate. Then she gets distracted by the other Doctor popping in.]
[She waves a bit.]
Rory's here. He's been looking for you for a few days.

He is? How'd he get here first?

[Have a grin.]
I'm Rose, by the way. He mentioned you two travel with the Doctor.

Nice meeting you.
We do. You know him?

[Wishful thinking? Check.]

[She quiets, thinking of the future she saw. He had her Doctor's face. A thousand years in the future.] Do they all have such awful fashion sense?

Man, you'd think a man that old would pick up a few things here and there. The only thing my Doctor picks up are weird hats.

Weird hats?

Fez's, cowboy hats...I'm scared to see what he'll put on his head next.
Reply
Yeah. It's weird.
[She raises her eyebrows.]
Sorry- Fez's?

What's that about great hair?

Oi, and who might you be, then?

The man himself. This'll be the Doctor, before yours. Dunno by how much, but a fair bit at least.
That's Amy, Rory's wife.
