[There's Anders, trying to pull the chipper, annoying rambler thing he usually does but it's pretty obviously strained.]

So, there we go, the drama is over- well, most of the drama. The plague drama at least. Of course there's our Sith friends- [He stops, rubbing his forehead.]

Oh sod this whole blighted thing. [He sighs] I wanted to- just... ( Read more... )

I'm sorry your - [She doesn't know this guy, so she doesn't know if Hawke is a friend, family member, pet, child, or girlfriend. So she pauses, trying to figure out what to say.]

Hawke died. Do you have someone to be there with you? Sitting alone at a clinic sounds like it has the chance to get pretty miserable.

[Aw Dawn 8( He's actually kind of touched by that, it's a kind offer.] Well not completely alone, there's a lot of sick people and stern looking healers mingling. Rather like the most depressing social event of the century.

I- thank you. For the offer. Trust me, you don't want to be down here, it's unpleasant at the best of times. [...] And just so we're clear Hawke is a person, not a bird. Apparently there's been confusion on that. [Nathan B( ]

[That gets a chuckle out of her.] I kind of figured you sounded too smart to name a bird after another bird, so don't worry. There's not any confusion on that.

I don't mind being in unpleasant places, but I probably shouldn't be around sick people. I just got here and getting sick right off the bat sounds like a pretty bad idea. But if you plan on going back to your apartment anytime soon, I could bring you something to eat? [Oh! Oh, she has the chance to be useful here. She's taking it and running.]

Not that I have anything to eat, but I could make my sister help out.

[He has to smirk a bit] I prefer much more creative names for my pet- like Ser Pounce-a-lot. Then again you wouldn't believe the mockery I get for that.

[He hesitates a moment- he is so not used to this whole community, people being nice and wanting to help each other thing. After a moment a smiles.] Well... alright, I- that would be nice. I mean, if it's not too much trouble or anything, company's always nice. Mostly I just grab what I can- cooking is hard, did you know that? I didn't.

... The name's Anders by the way, mage and Grey Warden. Not that that'll mean anything to you, I found a lot of times it doesn't around here. [He pauses] Your sister? You have family here?

I'm Dawn Summers, nothing special. But hey! Mage means something to me. It's kind of like a witch where I'm from. [She's all proud of making the comparison, even if it's an easy one to make.]

And yeah, I have an older sister here. I may give her a hard time, but I'm lucky to have her here with me. I'd be a lot more freaked out right now if she wasn't here. And you'd be a lot more hungry tonight if I didn't.

Summers- oh, Buffy's your sister? Do all your family have such sunlight-inspired names? Dawn Summers from Sunnydale- I think you even have your sister beat there. [he pauses] Witches? Well close enough. Uh... your world wouldn't happen to lock witches up and generally disapprove of them, would they?

Buffy's a good type, very... leader, I suppose. Hey, between you and me look out for her? I think the whole leading dangerous expeditions to save the day was a bit stressful. [He smiles a bit] I'm in D-1, oh generous soul.

[Oh. Someone that already knows Buffy. And from this moment on, Dawn sees herself being referred to as 'Buffy's Kid Sister'. But she really can't help but smile at the sunlight remark.]

It depends on the witch. Most people don't believe they can actually exist. But if you're wondering what I think? Being a witch or a mage doesn't make you a good or bad person, it's what you do with your power that does.

[She hadn't known about Buffy going off to lead an expedition to save the day, and hearing about it from a stranger doesn't upset her or make her angry. She understands that Buffy is a leader, no matter what world she's in, and that people needed help here recently.]

I'll see if I can get her leader butt to come along with me, but don't worry. She mostly takes care of herself, but I've always got her back. [Except that one time she didn't, and she kicked Buffy out of the house and out of the slayers group. But that doesn't need to be brought up.]

[Anders was thinking more a nickname to amiably mock the sunlight bit. He'd have to think of something good. And now it's his turn to be unable to help the smile her answers brings him]

You are obviously wise beyond your years. If only the rest of the universes subscribed to that logical, sound train of thought.

That's... good. Family, right? What else are they good for besides awkward, threatening talks when you have an interest in someone other than platonically. [He sighs] Are you new? You seem rather calm to be new.

I guess you could get away with calling me an old soul. A really, really old, glowy kind of soul. [Shrug.]

Lucky for me, I don't really have the whole non-platonic thing going for me right now. I have a lot of people from home here who would join Buffy in threatening and maiming. [She pauses for only a beat, in order to laugh.] Oh yeah, I'm pretty new. I mean, I was here for a week when I was a kid, but it's been three years since I was here last and I just woke up here a couple of days ago. So color me new.

Is that a sunshine-name pun? I'd say that deserves a six out of ten regardless, well done.

Ah, that's the younger sibling lot, isn't it? From what I've seen at least, it's usually death threats and valiant efforts to protect virtue and what not.

... You went back? To your home, that is.

[She gets a little more serious now, and reaches up to push hair behind her ear as she thinks over how to respond.]

Yuh-huh, definitely went back home. I woke up here, was here for maybe a week, then woke up back home. It was like I never even left, and I thought what happened here was all a dream. A few years go by, then I wake up here again. Pretty crazy, huh?

If you haven't gotten to go home yet, take it as a compliment. Revan probably thinks you're really strong or useful, so that's why you're still here. I wish I could be more reassuring, but sometimes bad things happen to good people. This is just one of those things.

Does- this going home and coming back, does it happen often? [Man why had he never heard about that. He offers Dawn a grin.] Ha, come on now, look at it optimistically. Revan thought you were simply too useful and decided to throw you home, hoping the world would beat some of the shine out of you. It's a clever ploy, really.

This place is such a headache. At least the plague is over.

I don't know if it does or not. I know I can't be the only one it's happened to. [She offers him a small smile, glad that he can be in good spirits despite everything.]

Sure, the plague is over, but from what I've read about this place we should be preparing for whatever is next. I've started putting together a journal of all the major events that have happened on Coruscant over the past couple of years, and everything I've found on the holonet makes me wonder what's next.

Huh, not sure how to feel about that one. Good I suppose. [Not really, apparently his future is going to suck B( ]

Truer words, unfortunately, have not been spoken. First it was those bombings, then a plague, now... Sith. [And people dying. Dutifully not focusing on that.] Quite the welcome back, hm?

It could be worse. I mean, at least it's not the Apocalypse?

[He groans] Don't say that, with our luck that'll probably be the next fun disastrous event.
