Had a conference with my fiction workshop prof yesterday, and had my story for this round critiqued by the class.
On the one hand, prof says I have a distinct style ("I could probably pick your story out if everyone handed their stories in without names") but on the other hand, someone else in class called it "very edgy, very Chuck Palahniuk," I am not sure if that is a good thing. Palahniuk isn't exactly the best writer around in terms of style IMO uhhhh.
In the previous story people liked the premise but thought the characters were weak, in this one they thought the character was intriguing but there was no clear premise. I guess I'm capable of writing decent premises and characters separately but fail at putting them together into a single story, sigh. Must try harder.
Prof: "You seem to enjoy writing about the cruelty of humanity."
It's true I guess but is this a good thing or a bad thing. ):
man idek I am in such a slump ughhhhh so much shit to be doing
