entry two [action/video for Goldenrod City]
[It's a beautiful day, if cold, and it finds Yanagi Renji on a bench in the city, engaged in a fierce staring contest with the newest of his Pokémon, a ponyta given to him by Yagyuu.
Yanagi likes walking around with half-closed eyes. It's oh so pretentious and it gives him a great opportunity to study people and he's discovered more than a few people are unnerved by it. However, when engaged in staring at a something that doesn't seem to mind being stared at and certainly isn't unnerved by his closed eyes, it's rather... futile.]
Fine, I will have to name you.
[The ponyta sitting at his feet looks pleased, but it's still staring at him. Yanagi frowns. He really wasn't expecting to have to deal with sentient beings who were subtly suited to manipulating emotions. He wishes he'd spent more time studying the cats his sister so loved. It might have given him some insight into working with these Pokémon.]
If you insist upon a name, then there needs to be some sort of convention. How about Nodaiko?
[The ponyta continues to stare at him, tail drooping slightly. By this point, Yanagi has his eyes open. He won't cave. Absolutely not. There will be no defeat at the hands - err, hooves - of someone he is supposed to be training.
The ponyta keeps staring, though. As the minutes pass, Yanagi feels his resolve weakening.]
Fine, I'll give you a decent name for a horse. What though? The only horse I can think of -
[He stops, thinking for a long minute. The only name of a horse he can think of is also one of the most famous. He can make it work. He smiles, his eyes closing once again. He has the upper hand.]
How about Doûreios? 'Trojan' doesn't have the same impact, unfortunately.
[The little ponyta seems to consider this for a moment, then lets out a pleased neigh, and rubs it's head against Yanagi's leg.]
