This is a very bike friendly town. All along the main streets are bike lanes. And they aren't like the bike lanes in the US, just a narrow painted lane that car drivers ignore. These are wide and set above the level of the street by a few inches. This keeps the car drivers from crossing into them. Some of them are asphalt paving like the street; but many of them are the same paving as the sidewalks.
They even have their own traffic lights. A smaller one mounted next to the one for the cars, just for the bike lane. They are very popular.
At rush hour there's just as much traffic in the bike lane as in the street.
I might ride a bike if we had lanes like this. (Nah, who am I kidding?)
