So I took Newspaper Journalism Practicum this semester. I may become a journalist. It's something like a real job, in that I may actually manage to get paid regularly. I think this would satisfy my mother's intense fear that I will go to college specifically to learn how to be a crazy homeless person.
In any event, The Raven Review has devoured all my time of late. Let's review: Thursday; class there, 8-10:15, come back at 12:00 to learn to do layout. Friday; Come in at 11:00 to drop off a freelancer's article that sent it far too late. Saturday; Layout, 11-5:30. Sunday; Layout, 11-6:30. Today; Come in at 9:00 to finish up layout, go to other class with same teacher at 1:00, return to do layout when class gets out at 3:15, continue to do layout until 4:00, when we find a staffer didn't finish his segment, go do his segment for him, get back at 6:00, layout until 7:20, go eat Taco Bell and have a beer, return at 8:00, layout pages other staffer never got around to, finally leave at 10:20. Yes, you did need to do that.
Layout would be fun and easy if reporters labeled everything. That's my conclusion. I can't wait to go to class at 8:00 tommorow morning.
