“Sungmin!” Ryeowook ran to her. She just came out from science lab, on the way to the canteen. She waved to her best friend, waiting to walk together for lunch break. They promised to eat together today. Sungmin brought her mom’s special dishes to eat with her friends. Ryeowook made a very nice carrot cake to share with them too. Eunhyuk, Donghae will be joining them and maybe Yesung will be there too.
“Come, let’s go” Ryeowook hooked her arms together with Sungmin’s. They walked hand in hand to their usual table. Eunhyuk and Donghae were still not there yet. Sungmin sat, both hands supporting her face while pouting waiting for the others to come.
“Yah, Han Sungmin. Stop being cute. Can please take your aegyo elsewhere?” Eunhyuk hit her head, frowning on her friend’s cute gesture.
“Ouch, Hyukkie. It hurts! Can you be nicer to me? Last time I remember, you like me acting cute?” whined Sungmin. She widened her big, doe eyes acting innocent and wriggled her body. Her action causing the latter to smirk. Tsk..
“That was yesterday. Now, I just can’t stand your aegyo anymore. Come on, why must you act cute every seconds, every minutes, and every hour? I’m getting sick of it” Eunhyuk pushed her friend to the side and sat beside her.
“Yah, Hyukkie.... “ Sungmin whined again, talking animatedly to her best friend. The others just squealed on Sungmin’s aegyo.
“Stop, both of you. Aigoo... Sungmin, you’re so cute. But Hyukkie, you are much, much cuter than her. You know that right?” Donghae intercepted both of them. He winked to Eunhyuk, causing the latter to blush and keep her head down. Sungmin pouted, chuckled on Donghae’s cheesy quote. Ryeowook giggled at them;
“Kekeke... All of you are cute in their own way. By the way, where’s Yesung Oppa?” Ryeowook interrupted, shoving slice of carrot cake to each of them.
“He’ll be here. You know him well. He just can’t miss free food.” Donghae replied nonchalantly. He sat beside Eunhyuk, causing the latter to turn her face to other direction, facing Sungmin, tried to hide her blushing face.
“I wonder who’s being cute now” Sungmin giggled followed by a small cry when she felt pain when somebody pinched her thigh.
“Yah, Lee Eunhyuk! You..!”
“Hello beautiful girls!” Yesung suddenly appeared in front of them. Sungmin and Eunhyuk stopped arguing. Yesung could be very creepy sometimes. Kyuhyun was following behind him, grinning devilishly to them. Ryeowook immediately stood up and pulled Yesung to sit at the empty space beside her.
“Oppa, thank you for coming. I made a carrot cake. Do you want to try? Kyuhyun, what are you doing here? Don’t you have better things to do?” Ryeowook eyed her friends. It’s unusual to see Kyuhyun following Yesung or came to their table. Usually Kyuhyun would spend his time with his clique. So, she was surprised to see him now.
“Aniyo, Yesung hyung asked me whether I want to join you all. He told me about good and free food. I can’t just let go free food, can I?” He smirked to Ryeowook, winked to everyone else, earning him a smack from Yesung.
“Yah, I thought you said you don’t want to join me just now. Why sudden change? Is it because of... hmjmxshs ” Kyuhyun forcely close Yesung’s mouth with both hands. While the latter was struggling to break free, he just grinned and smirked. His face was already red.
“Aish, Yesung hyung. Just shut up. I just come to enjoy delicious food. Nah , let’s try this cake” Kyuhyun quickly shoved a carrot cake into Yesung’s mouth causing only half of the cake went inside his mouth. The rest of the cake was smeared all of his face. This caused Yesung to become more irritated, his eyes widened, sending a death glare to Kyuhyun. Donghae, Eunhyuk and Sungmin laughed on the two best friends.
“Come on Kyu, don’t bully Yesung Oppa. You should behave yourself. And should be ashamed of yourself” Sungmin pulled Kyuhyun’s hand from Yesung, helping the latter to break free. The sudden contact sent shivers to both them, Kyuhyun loosen his grip. Yesung, who manage to break free from Kyuhyun immediately grabbed his collar. Luckily, Donghae manage to stop it. Kyuhyun remained calm and smile innocently to Yesung causing all of them laughing. Yesung amused with his beloved dongsaeng’s behaviour just chuckled and let him go.
“Aish, how can you be so evil, yet so cute? Come and sit here. You are really something. Tsk... Yesung Oppa, please don’t be mad. He’s just goofing around” Ryeowook motioned Kyuhyun to sit in front of Sungmin. He obeyed and settled beside Ryeowook. His eyes met Sungmin’s causing both of them blushed at the same time. Both of them nodded to each other and smile. Ryeowook, who saw both of them couldn’t help herself squealed on their awkward action.
“I need to go now. Mr Kang wants to see me for my quiz. Bye, guys” Kyuhyun stood up after finished eating and vanished from there. Ryeowook turned her gaze to Sungmin and asked,
“Are you guys dating?”

Sungmin sat on the wooden chair near the school’s front gate. She was waiting for her mom to pick her up. She had to stay back for her library duty, and her brother already went back with his friends. Since Ryeowook was not on duty, she also had left. Her mom promised to pick her at 5.30pm, but obviously she was late. She opened Sophie Kinsella’s novel and read. However, her mind was thinking of Ryeowook’s question that afternoon
“Are you guys dating?”
Sungmin was not sure herself. Each day, she felt that Kyuhyun had been treating her differently. He had been very mean and snarky to other people, but he always been very gentle to her. He would help her with her studies. If she had to stay back because her mom was late, he would accompany her in library or study room. Sometimes, he would send her back if her mom couldn’t pick her up. Kyuhyun was very close and comfortable with her mom. Her mom trusted Kyuhyun and only allowed Sungmin to go out if Kyuhyun was around. Mr Han also had met Kyuhyun and didn’t mind him going out with her. Even, her evil brother Kibum enjoyed playing online video game with him. They had few matches together and played it until late night. He is a part of her family now. She was sure that they’re not dating. The guy never confessed to her. How could she date a boy if he never confessed, right? She is just his best friend with common interest, that’s what she thought of their relationship...... or is it?
“Hey” Sungmin quivered when she saw the guy in front of her.
“Hey, why are you still here?” Sungmin asked the guy. The boy settled beside her and stretched his legs out.
“I have archery practice for state tournament. And I have to finished Mr Kang’s request before that. How about you? Your mom is late today?”
“No, I have library duty today. Mommy said she’ll pick me up at 5.30, but she’s still not here.”
“Aaah...” They remained quiet for a moment.
“I... I just want to... ask you,” Kyuhyun spoke. Sungmin lifted her head, looking straight to his eyes. Her big doe eyes shine when she was looking at him. Kyuhyun skipped a beat.
“Do you...do you still love your ex-boyfriend? Is that the reason why you are not in relationship now?” His question surprised Sungmin, she just turned away with sad gaze.
“No... No, I don’t know. I can’t answer your question” Sungmin replied. Her voice became coarse. Of course, she missed Siwon. She missed his kind gesture and his gentleman attitude. But she already moved on and she didn’t love him anymore. There’s another special someone in her heart right now. She can’t say this out loud. She didn’t know whether the guy had a mutual feeling as well. And she couldn’t take any chances. She might go back to Korea soon and she would end up breaking up like what happened 6 month ago. She kept her head low, trying hard to prevent the tears falling. Luckily, she saw her mom, and she quickly stood up leaving Kyuhyun without a word, clueless.
As she was running to her mom’s car, she could hear an SMS came in. As soon as she sat in the car, she opened the message;
