I'm in a better mood now, thanks to Ben :)
I have to write a final paper for my stupid College Transitions class, and here is what I chose for a topic:
Your younger sister/brother or a friend has applied to the University of Iowa. Write a letter to this person, giving him/her your expert advice on how to successfully negotiate the first semester of college life. Think about how college is different from high school, and consider focusing on the key issues: roommate adjustments, time management, handling new freedom, making daily decisions, meeting people, finding your “niche”, the ways you were (and weren’t) prepared to survive here, along with any other items you feel are important to the transition. If the semester has gone without a hitch, then explain what has helped make the transition so smooth. Is there an attitude that helped? Specific habits you developed? Give examples to reinforce your points. (4-5 pages)
Please give me some bits of advice that I could include in my paper. For example, at the beginning of the semester, I remember Caleb writing that you should always bring a book with you because there is a lot of "down time" during which you have nothing else to do. I don't want essays or paragraphs, just phrases/sentences....you can write however much you want, I just don't want you to feel like you have to write a novel.
Thanks in advance.
