My Literal Agenda

Mar 02, 2009 03:38

Okay, so late last year, I posted links to the first three in a now-beloved YouTube fad known as "literal videos". The concept is that the lyrics of a song are changed to match what's going on in the video. It started when DustoMcNeato posted his version of A-Ha's "Take On Me", followed by Tears For Fears' "Head Over Heels". Another YouTuber called "copyrighthater" followed suit with his now-legendary literal version of "Never Gonna Give You Up" (a.k.a. the "Rick Roll" song), and Dusto did his take on "Under The Bridge". Two of Dusto's three videos were taken down, but still appear on YouTube and the Funny Or Die site. Since then, a slew of non-Dusto videos have appeared, including some real winners: "Birdhouse in Your Soul", "Arms Wide Open", "Kyrie", etc.

So anyway, perhaps to counteract the effects of work, and precede the busy rehearsal schedule awaiting me, I decided to finally make use of my Monkees lyrics, which then snowballed into two other videos. The purpose was to get some of my favorite bands represented, while the trick was to find a video in which enough stuff happens to make fun of. If early comments are an indication, it looks like it worked, so far....

Daydream Believer (The Monkees)
Penny Lane (The Beatles)
World Where You Live (Crowded House)

Enjoy...?
