Once again, procrastination draws me to extreme limits. Lately I've been pondering about this strange phenomenon of malnutrition being attractive. What happened to the idea of desiring a thickened, curvy, healthy body? Even Norma Jean/Marilyn had a voluptuous figure which I think reflected the virtues of her generation. However, the revolution of the new generation of the sixties had a complete 180 on this. Due to nation-wide tension over Vietnam and various other events, the youth rebelled against the traditions of the older generations with art/music, organizations, and radical new outlooks on the future. Drug use definitely took hold partly because of the older generation's opposition to it. I believe the girls of this revolution were trying to deviate from the classic idea of a woman's body. Perhaps to show edge and abandance of their mother's morals. The ultimate turning point for the feminine figure was definitely the Mod scene's infamous Twiggy. The media ate her up (or what was left of her), and spit it out into the faces of females, creating a new fad for the rebellious generation. The model's small-framed body was naturally lean and skeleton-ish, and sadly women did not realize that it is unnatural for any other type of figure to look like this. The extensive use of drugs began to warp more human bodies into unnatural malnutrition, creating the style of 'Cocaine Chic'. And even more sadly, the impression stuck. The media has brainwashed females and males into believing this lean chic is naturally stylish. I can't understand why. The human body is designed as any other animal's, with shapes and body parts which appear certain ways when healthy. In the kingdom Animalia, if any animal in a species appears malnutritioned or unnatural, it is inevitable for its rejection by others of the species. It also results in survival of the fittest. I believe us humans are simply too intelligent for our own natural instincts. A male is equipped with stronger muscles, more hair, and a larger frame than a female for hunting and survival purposes. A female is of smaller frame, more fatty tissue, and more delicate aspects for reproduction and care-giving purposes. They work together simultaneously for the survival of our species. The media is no more than us humans reflecting what we desire. We are so power-hungry that we've overpowered our basic means of survival, and prioritized social status instead. I think it's disgusting to read these celebrity style articles which accuse women and men of unfit bodies, for what? To wear designer clothing which hires 5'8", 88 lb women to model their creations because they might not look good on anything but the hanger? I'm finished.
"It has been my sad realization that us women do not have much control over our figure past the age of 25. We could eat a salad and go to the gym every day and nothing is going to shake the weight off our hips.
Just look at Beyoncé at the 2007 American Music Awards. She really does look like a man in drag. Thick and meaty! Mostly I just like the way she’s flaring her nose in that first photo." - www.Flisted.com 'Hot Celebrity Snatch'
