Aruba-licious!

Well, it is day 2 on the Aruba adventure - this is probably the last trip until this summer. Maybe a long weekend or something with a holiday, but that's all that is in the cards since I started the new job and all. I had negotiated this one in since it was already booked.

We got here yesterday afternoon and headed straight for the apartments to drop off the luggage before heading into town for a little lunch. I had a local specialty (it was super good!) that was a big cheese and shredded chicken extravaganza. Gotta love the dutch influence!

I have to say that I think Aruba is one of my favorite of the Caribbean islands so far - it is clean and hassle free - a little westernized, but a very nice place and could be a good jumping off point for Venezuela or Suriname in the future.

Today, we went up to the California lighthouse (so named because of the shipwreck of the California nearby) and then to the local beach. The water was surprisingly chilly! But the swimming was good (the water is so unbelievably clear!) and the sunning was also very good (though the winds were pretty strong and it was a little sand blasting - or "exfoliating").

Afterward, lunch was in order and also grabbed some breakfast snacks for the morning since we have an early flight to Curacao in the AM. Just hanging out before a nice (hopefully) Thai dinner tonight!
