So we were a little late leaving Bucharest after an evening at OTP with a bunch of Jarheads waiting for their deployment. Some of those guys were obviously on tour 3 or 4 ... so hope Obama can get us out soon!
Anyhow, we got to Ljubljana around 8 or so and dropped off our stuff and headed out (that of course was after the 45 EUR cab ride - daaaaaaaaaang...) for a rather interesting (good but nothing like I have ever had...) Mexican dinner.
Of course, being a country on the Euro, I knew that it wasn't going to be cheap, and boy was I right... I've got the hoover attached to my wallet almost like being in NYC! It's all good, but after struggling to spend $25 per day in Romania, spending $25 on lunch is a luxury if it is that low!
Today we took the bus (there actually isn't a train station here, it is 4km away) to Bled after a very good night sleep and a lovely breakfast. The bus drove us up into the Alps where most of the snow in these lower peaks (5-8k feet I'd guess) is mostly melted. We got to Bled around 11 and took the gondola over to the little island in the middle of the lake. After a bit of a look around, we headed back, had an amazing lunch with a view of the lake, and then hiked up to the top of the hill to see the castle. We now have about 30 minutes to wait for the bus back (we missed the train and that leaves later anyway)...
Tonight we are going to head to some Indian dinner (what would one of our vacations be without Indian?) at a place in Ljubljana called "Namaste" - which I wonder if anyone told them that it was actually a Nepali greeting.
Tomorrow we have the day in Ljubljana to walk around and museum hopping...chance of rain tomorrow... but it looks like our great weather won't be all that in Belgrade - looks like there is 1 day that might be rather challenging...
