Reason #7 to Go see Serenity:
Most Sci-fi you get a distanced view of what's going on. It's harder to connect to the characters, but as said in FireFly DVD commentary, Firefly presents a lived in world and characters you can relate to. They aren't the good guys trying to get the badguys, though it does have elements of such. The crew of Serenity are the people at the frontiers of space trying to survive and always getting into more trouble than they expect or even want to. They're living as free as any human can claim to in an alliance run universe. Even though its sci-fi you can actually relate to the characters. Ordinary people in Extraordinary circumstances.
