Funny Icon! *laughs* Got me one of em free gif-animators...Yes, those are hearts..<.Didn't get much done on the manga, in the last couple of days
( Read more... )
"whatever I must?" LOL I'm not sure how to take that... I can control myself even in my fangirlish glee... and a person's icons are considered their work even though they come from screenshots, so I don't want to take it if you'd rather I didn't.
Yes, "funny accent" is a perfectly appropriate way to describe it. But I know next to nothing of Yiddish, being a convert, and even Jewish families of Eastern Europe descent commonly haven't maintained the language, though new Russian Jewish immigrants to the U.S. often speak it. I did once make a try at learning it but it didn't work out. Some words used in Yiddish do come from Hebrew of course... but also in a funny accent. Sorry to ramble, just an interesting subject to discuss with someone who speaks German. I wonder if you would pronounce my daughter's name, Rachel Leah, the same way we do?
It's a little harder to download music legally these days and I haven't been trying. So I don't listen as much as I'd like, at all. I rarely buy CDs unless they're music I remember from years back. So I suppose I'm becoming old.
Anyway, I won't distract you any further! But thanks again.
Yes...whatever...you must...<<' ... Please don't mind if I'm saying strange things, happens to me occasionally. That's partly because English isn't my primary language. (Come to think, actually I hardly do any more conversation in german than in english.) Partly because i'm a weirdo.
Seriously, do whatever you'd like to, with that icon ^^'
>"I wonder if you would pronounce my daughter's name, Rachel Leah, the same way we do?" Quite possible. Depends on how you pronounce it...^^' Am I right to assume that Rachel is an english name? Because that's how I would pronounce it. And the Leah part, humm...Lay-uh...or something? The different pronounciations and spellings are getting a little confusing on me, so I hope I'm not messing up the name too much...Sorry <<'
As for downloading music, most artists that are worth listening to, provide a fair amount of free downloads and then there's sites that gather such files or provide links to the artists. And of course there's also less legal files but I can't see the reson for all the fuss about that. Chances are i would have never found out about some bands, such as Rush for example, if it wasn't for mp3. I mean, most good bands don't make it on MTV and the like, so the web is about the only way to get to listen to some of their music.
Meh, I'd better get off now. I really need to get some sleep now, I think I'm starting to see things twice... Hope there's some sense in this post <<'
You're not saying strange things, I'm the strange one I assure you. As for Rachel Leah, it's a Yiddish name the way we pronounce it... but since I can't write a pronunciations on the net I'm not entirely sure why I asked. You have the Leah part right though.
I would certainly never have guessed English was not your first language if you hadn't told me that. I suppose it's just another example of how superior the European educational system is.
Well you'll have to link me to some of your favorite artists sometime, if I could navigate the sites.
Anyway, sorry for spamming your LJ and I hope you got some sleep.
More power to strange people! heh If you're not pronouncing it english, then I'm not quite sure how else to pronounce it... It would be something like "roch-el" in german, I think o.o'
">I would certainly never have guessed English was not your first language if you hadn't told me that. I suppose it's just another example of how superior the European educational system is."
Thank you ^^' The grass is always greener on the other side, huh? Funny how everyone in germany is always whining about the educational system and not just about that, either...

Could do that, though I'm not sure what kind of music you would also enjoy. Well, I've been listening to a lot of Sigur Rós, lately. Rather unknown finnish band, so you might not know about them, yet. Some very beautiful and unique music. Here are a few songs, if you'd like to give them a listen:
All legal downloads directly from the artist's site. Most of their songs are quite long/ big files and I don't know what kind of connection you're on... But then, I'm on a dial-up modem here and still managed to download the files somehow ^^'
">Anyway, sorry for spamming your LJ and I hope you got some sleep. *pets her little icon*"
Thanks for spamming and I'm glad you enjoy the little icon :laughs:
Yeah it sounds like you've got the name right (so to speak) as long as you've got that gutteral h thing going.
People whine about the educational system too, especially here in Los Angeles. My daughter goes to a private Jewish school right now so I don't really know one way or the other.
Anyway, I'm really posting to say I listened to those links (I have DSL so it was fine) and that is some of the best music I've heard in ages. Just so many emotional overtones and so much beauty. So I went over to Amazon.com and bought their CD Agaetis Byrjun. First CD I've bought in quite some time and I very much look forward to it. So thanks so much! And be sure to pass on anything else you like!
Also got Hellsing 3 while I was there to save on shipping charges (English translation apparently sucks but, I'll live with it) and that film "Wings of Desire." Wanted to get the Seraphic Feather manga too but it looks like they stopped publishing it except in French. I'll have to see if anyone's translating it online.
Anyway, I'm about to sharpen my pencils, if you and I can handle the excitement... see you later!
