I've been thinking about Merlin a bit.
Um okay, not true. I've been thinking about Merlin a lot. A LOT. Too much, even. But anyway.
(This entry might be completely pointless because I don't think anybody except for
die_gute_seite is even remotely interested in Merlin, but anyway.)
Thanks to
the_queen_s, I caught up with xxxholic after neglecting it for the last, oh, three months or so while I was busy with university and stuff. Catching up with xxxholic made me remember The Dimension Witch and seriously, I can't remember her name right now, which is creepy.
Today, watching
this video, an interview with Colin Morgan (Merlin himself) that features scenes with The Slash Dragon, it occurred to me: THE DRAGON IS A MALE AND errr DRAGON-Y VERSION OF THE DIMENSION WITCH OMGWTFBBQ!
His favourite word is DESTINY. In fact, I think the first thing we hear from him is "no young man, no matter how great, can know his DESTINY." (Based on this, and completely ignoring the fact that in English, "man" can mean "human being", I am assuming that women can.)
Every other episode starts with the following sentence: "In a land a myth and a time of magic, the DESTINY of a great kingdom rests on the shoulders of a young man - MERLIN."
Or something like that, I'm not really good at understanding spoken English. I believe that, watching Merlin, I might have gotten a tiny little bit better at it, but I'm sure I wouldn't understand a native speaker talking at me at full speed. Granted, they wouldn't understand me talking German at them at full speed, but I do believe I'm kind of getting off topic, so let's go BTT...
Now, that sentence is the opening sequence of every episode, so what is it that we first hear the Dragon say while knowing it is him? As in, we see the Dragon sitting in front of Merlin. He says: "How small you are... for such a great DESTINY."
He keeps on talking about how it is Merlin's DESTINY to protect Arthur and to ensure that he unite Albion. Merlin is Not Happy about that. At all.
The Dragon never stops talking about DESTINY and I'm sure there must be a post somewhere on the interwebs stating just how many times The Dragon has used the word DESTINY until the end of the second series. I think at least fifty times.
And for the Dimension Witch, everything is DESTINY anyway, we all know that. There is no place in this world for something like coincidence, yes, well, what was that again? Well, nevermind, because it does not exist, trallala!
So yeah. In my head, The Dragon and The Dimension Witch are bestest buddies 4eva or something like that. Maybe a bit more dignified. Or maybe not. I can totally imagine them giggling and cracking silly jokes when they aren't around ~*~lesser beings~*~ like, well, very young humans. Because you have to be dignified when you're talking to a young human unless you can deal with him not respecting you. Ah, yes.
Or they sit facing each other thinking deep thoughts about DESTINY and chicken.
Huh.
OH RIGHT, SHE'S CALLED YUUKO.
A different theory is that Yuuko is a reincarnation of The Dragon, which implies that he dies at some point. I'm sure he will. He must die, in fact, because... or, well, actually not. Perhaps he's sitting under the Palace, waiting for Merlin to come and free him. COME ON, MERLIN, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!
