Allo, Alfred... I-erm... I'm really, really sorry about... what happened last night... I know I should have told you sooner... I just... things seemed to be going so well between us - I didn't want to spoil it. I tried calling you earlier today, but... you didn't pick up. I couldn't call you during my Bon Sejour shift either; Bonnefoy is so controlling. [Pause] A-and I think we should talk about this in a more- civilized manner than the way we handled it last night. [Another pause; followed by a weak chortle] Look at me: a counselor who can't follow his own advice. I... j-just call me back... please... I lo-.... [He sighs, followed by a very long period of silence...]

I can't sleep... minya tashnit; ya khachu tibya. I can't-- Ah--! [rustling sound followed by a feminine voice in the background - presumably his sister - then a short exchange of distant words between the two of them. Their voices get louder - "Who are you talking to Brother?" can be heard - all goes quiet, then a comes a yell of protest, a fumbling sound, and then the call ends.]

S-sorry about that... N-Natalia, she... bozhe, why isn't she asleep...? [An audible shiver] It is so cold outside... I-I want to come over, but I left the spare key on your kitchen counter. You're probably sleeping... I-I probably shouldn't call anymore... m-might wake you up. B-but you... ah... [sniff] know my number... call me... please... tih mnye nuzhihn... I need you... y-ya... ya lublu tibya... [Sniffs louder, but it gets quieter as seconds pass; the phone clatters to the floor of the fire escape. Through the static of distant sirens and howling wind, one can hear muffled sobbing. The call times out.]
