EEEEEEEEEE!
Merry Christmas/Io Saturnalia/Enjoy your Chinese Food/Happy Late Hanukkah/ Happy Late(?) Kwanza/Happy Late Ramadan!
But most importantly, happy yuletide! Yuletide is so much fun. There are sooo many fics this year, it's incredible. And I got five and they are all amazing.
First, the two full length stories!
Parallax (Boston Legal)
This is a great Jerry + Alan friendship story that takes place after the actual Christmas episode. It gets the voices of all the characters right to an insane degree -- I literally can hear James Spader speaking in my head, saying these lines. It is sweet and funny and nicely dry. It feels like an outtake from the show! It's so great!
Settlement of Debt (Swordspoint)
This is a lovely, lovely story -- it really grabs the mood of the books, which is very realistic with supernatural elements. This reminds me of the story at the back of the copy of Swordspoint, the one about fighting the devil person? Yeah, anyway, this is great. I really loved how it examined the relationship between Alec and Richard, which is a love story that I think is totally, totally fascinating. I want to roll around in this universe and make a bed in it.
And then three yuletide treats!
Boom Boom (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang)
AHAHAH. This is hilarious! This is the Harry/Perry/Harmony story of my dreams! It is in the first person and it is about how Harmony and Perry decide that Harry is gay and then goes through with it. And then there are more shenanigans! Really funny, subtly sweet, and really capturing everything I loved about the movie.
Dizzy (Swordspoint)
What an adorable little love story! It's a fantastic look at the way Jessamyn and Richard met, and it is something that I really could see happening. I enjoyed reading about a Richard that is younger and sweeter, new to the city and not quite so experienced yet. This is the farm boy I imagine him growing up as.
Deserved (Swordspoint)
A short, sweet, and amazing little character study on Richard just after he killed Jessamyn. I loved this piece -- it was a really fascinating look into his mind.
*gleeful*
Now to read the rest!!
