1) My family is not like me. I love them dearly -- I don't even have the typical black sheep hatred of their ways! Yet. I so, so don't blend. I smile in the corner while they discuss football and eat really, really overcooked meat. At least this branch of the family... fucking Oklahoma.
2) I got a ten inch chef knife for Christmas. I am happy! It's pretty!
3) Still with the Buffy marathon. Thoughts mainly are revolving around the fact that Spike is really hot and Xander has amazing taste in women.
4) I really want to write an epic SPN/BTVS crossover dealing with the different way the shows interact with myths. Buffy is an intensely old world show -- all the myths they use are pretty European (with a few exceptions), if they are real myths at all. They use cross bows and stakes and the only modernity, the Initiative, is portrayed as borderline cruel. Supernatural, on the other hand, is very, very American. The myths they use tend to be real American folk legends and the weaponry is totally old school -- hell, their last name is Winchester.
I actually prefer the way that SPN functions. Sometimes the way that Buffy deals with demons annoys me -- they don't really use real myths, but they don't really develop a coherent internal mythology either. Maybe I'm just not there yet, but though I adore the show -- it feels just like exactly what it is, a horror show used to illustrate real world dangers.
I mean, I love it, don't get me wrong. I like it better than Supernatural, on the whole -- but I am fairly disappointed with the demons. I just want to... combine them. Force the old world, old school, I am the chosen shstick of Buffy to blend with the more earthy feel of SPN.
... and none of that made much sense at all. Also? I have no plot for my epic. Just the desire to see it happen.
5)I can't wait for
yuletide.
