My grandfather, rest his soul, gave me some good advice when I was younger. Politics and religion are just two things you avoid talking about unless you share the same beliefs as the other person. I try to blissfully skip over anything I disagree with. I find this is more the case with politics then religion. Most of the time we just vote for the lesser of two evils. That’s not really choice, that’s more like settling. Still it’s just how it is, there isn’t much changing until there is another revolution (I’m not advocating it, I’m just stating thought / idea). I’m not taking some politically motivated one either (I’m looking at you Tea Party and 99 percenters). Really what’s the point? Voting is only something that the delegates decide, Republican or Democrat. I’m not saying either side doesn’t have good points, but they both are really out for themselves. Parties might say they are there for the good of the people, but do you really think any of the house, congress, court or the white house really gives half a shit about little ole you living in some town working your 9-5 job?
Anyway, ranting and raving aside, faith in something is better than faith in nothing, that’s just emptiness. I though enjoy the saying and thought process of the movie Dogma
“I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier”.
So far I’ve kept my thoughts and ideas. I’ve had some really interesting conversations regarding faith and the way people view their holy books. Some have tried to convert me, and that’s cool. Just know it’s a hard sell and I’m ok where I’m at. Honestly long as you don’t hurt anyone, good to others, and aren’t judgmental you and me won’t have problems. I’ve been baptized, I’ve been confirmed, so I know the Christian faith. Why I turned away, that’s a conversation for another time. Point is I respect your faith, so I ask the same. I might question it, but I question just about everything. It’s just my nature to do it, it’s why I’m so anal at times yet pretty dam good at what I do.
