Starting about a month ago I decided to get back on track with a healthy lifestyle and all of that. I started cutting back and watching what I was eating with the intention of serious dieting and exercise after the holidays. I've been pretty good too. I have managed some sort of workout just about every day and have mostly stuck to my <20 g fat and 1000ish calories per day goal. This may not seem like much but I really don't eat a lot anyway. My metabolism just really sucks. Anyway, I have been trying to get some projects finished around the house too which typically involves running up and down the stairs repeatedly and climbing up and down on chairs and toilets and things, since we don't have a ladder or step stool or anything. I believe it was that, climing on and off of a toilet repeatedly to hang a cabinet, that has made my calves scream with pain the past 2 days. What's worse is yesterday, even though my calves were already burning, I decided I HAD to take advantage of the nice weather and took my dog for our usual 2 mile, hill strewn, hike through Grant Nature Park. Today, It is all I can do to force one foot in front of the other to ge me around the house. If I have time after picking up a few groceries I am still going to the gym though. I'll just work my arms and abs today. If I don't have time I'll at least crank out some crunches and maybe attempt a push up or 2. The limited mobility in my wrist makes working my arms at home difficult. My point is though, I have belonged to gyms over the years and committed off an on to some pretty crazy work out schedules. Heck, a couple of years ago I lost 93 lbs in 8 months just by dieting and hard core working out. Never, NEVER, have I experienced this level of burning in my muscles. They feel like they should be hot to the touch, they're burning so badly. Crazy.
