Back to the Grind

Four days in Florida just wasn't enough. We went to MGM, but mostly hung around resting. There was some shopping runs even though I barely got anything. It might have just been where I went, but I couldn't find any anime at all in that state. The only exception was Lodoss War and Outlaw Star DVD's sitting in a Flea Market.

The wedding was brought up and then quickly made a taboo topic. Tracy's dad told us it is more practical for us to get married in Buffalo because of all of Tracy's family and their contacts. Again this has too many flaws. Tracy hates Buffalo with a passion and getting married there is not even an option in her mind. If it happens then it won't bode well for future happiness. This is the main reason aside from my family and many of our friends would have to travel further. Some might not even be able to show up in worst case scenarios. I keep my mouth shut, but if it was done in Buffalo then Tracy's mom would become more of a factor. Yes it is our wedding. But Tracy's mom can be very annoying and while she won't get her way, I'd rather avoid the aggravation.

Overall this vacation didn't relax me. I learned that my uncle had started losing his fight to lukemia. He's stabilized now, but the talk of what to do when he dies has started. I'm thankful that I am not being included in these talks because I don't want to be involved. As important as it is, I would rather not have a hand in choosing these things. Needless to say this news was not taken too well.

To top it off, I went through over 300 pages of publishers. Came out with 13 that will deal with sci-fi/fantasy. Rose it to 15 when I wandered through an Orlando supermarket looking at the publishers who put out the various fantasy books on the shelf. This is not boding well for me, but I think I should get another publisher/agent book. The term "non-fiction" turned up very often, so I wonder if there is some favoritism in the listing. Still there is the fact that sci-fi and fantasy are not that sought after. I've read a lot of agent listing where "No Star Trek" is written and it means no sci-fi/fantasy. Such limited mentality that deems all books in the genre are boiled down to Star Trek. I like the series as much as the next guy (as long as this guy isn't dressed as a Klingon), but this takes it too far for me.

I might have a solution for this problem though. The website that Tracy and I have been working on is crude. But I can possibly set up an E-Book writer on my computer and get enough CD's to make the books. This would then allow me to sell the books through the website. All I would need is some attention and such, but the website isn't even done. I'm a little nervous about this since I'm taking it so seriously. Part of me thinks that when I started linking up and making the website more public, people will show up to make a circus out of the guestbook. Since it is starting to feel more and more like the website might be my ticket to the much sought after "experience", the paranoia of this grows.

That's pretty much all that has been going on. Now to actually get to work and leave vacation behind.
