The Goerlia/Prater test network merger is scheduled for early next month. As previously reported, the last merger of test networks took place in the Sepolia network.
At the beginning of next month, the Ethereum Goerli test network will undergo a merger with the Beacon Chain, which will provide support for share verification before the merger of the main network, expected this fall.
The details were described in a blog post dated July 27.
The blog post explains:
"For the last transition, the testnet for proof-of-stake Goerli will team up with Prater. The combined Goerli/Prater network will retain the Goerli name after the merger. Bellatrix, the Prater update preparing it for the merger, will occur at epoch 112260, as expected at 12:24 UTC on August 4, 2022. After Bellatrix is activated, the Goerli/Prater merger will occur when Goerli reaches a total of 10790000, which is expected between August 6-12, 2022."
"After the merger, the set of Goerli validators will remain open for individual stake holders to launch test network validators. Stake holders who want to launch the Goerli/Prater validator can do so on the Prater launcher," the message says.
As previously reported, mergers of this kind serve as a dress rehearsal for the future merger of the main network. At the moment, the Ropsten and Seploia networks are combined with the corresponding beacon chains.
