The sales volumes of the GameStop NFT platform exceeded the indicators of the marketplace from Coinb
Owned by the video game retailer GameStop, the NFT marketplace turned out to be very successful. Its trading volume since its launch on July 11 has amounted to more than 5,000 ETH (about $7.2 million)
The MetaBoy project became the main collection of the NFT platform, showing sales of 1200 ETH (about $ 1.7 million). On the opening day of the marketplace, the trading volume was 1,831 ETH (about $2.7 million), but since then daily sales have been steadily declining.
The trading volumes of GameStop's NFT platform more than doubled those of its competitor from the Coinbase crypto exchange, whose sales since its public launch on May 4 amounted to only 1913 ETH (about $2.8 million).
The problems with the Coinbase NFT marketplace began already at the first stages and the trading volumes turned out to be disappointing. The company had to take tough steps and in June it laid off more than 1,100 employees.
Most likely, the popularity of GameStop's NFT platform is related to brand loyalty, and not to its technology. The sentiment regarding her in the NFT segment of Twitter was mostly positive, whereas they were completely different to the image of Coinbase.
It is worth noting that the GameStop product was successful, even despite the commission of 2.25%, while Coinbase offers the opportunity to trade with zero commission.
The NFT marketplace is not the only Web3 product released by GameStop. In May, its own cryptocurrency and NFT wallet was released. In addition, in partnership with Immutable X, the launch of a $100 million gaming fund was announced.
Both marketplaces are still far behind the industry leader OpenSea, whose sales volume last week amounted to $120 million in ETH equivalent.
