Rosfinmonitoring Calls for Strict Control over Cryptocurrencies

As the head of financial intelligence Yuri Chikhanchin noted during his speech at the Federation Council, the Russian authorities are striving to ensure the transparency of cryptocurrencies. However, the measures they are taking are not enough.
The head of Rosfinmonitoring believes that special attention should be paid to the fight against the criminal use of virtual currencies. Work in this direction is already underway, but we need to increase its efficiency.
Chikhanchin said:
Digital assets have already appeared and some regulatory elements and criminal penalties are gradually appearing, but these measures are clearly not enough yet.
There are about 13,000 virtual currencies in the world and a large number of exchanges whose activities are not controlled by anyone. This is the main danger to the stability of the state.
Chikhanchin also noted that it is necessary to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, the Central Bank and the government of the country in this area. This will allow us to form the most effective model of control over the cryptocurrency market.
