Dubai is preparing to bring its government into the metaverse

According to reports, the Dubai government is preparing to make some of its offices available in the metaverse. The country is currently looking for third parties to help it organize the transition of some of its departments to the virtual world, according to statements made at the metaverse event by Sharad Agarwal, director of Cybergear.
Dubai, an emirate that is part of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will reportedly bring some of its government departments to the metaverse to allow users to perform actions on these facilities in the future. This will be the next step for the country, which previously presented its Dubai Metaverse strategy, to position this technology as an important part of the future of the emirate.

Sharad Agarwal, director of metaverse Cybergear, a metaverse company in Dubai, spoke about this process at a local event on the topic of metaverses. He stated:

"We started receiving a lot of requests from government departments and ministries to make them included in Metaverse. It's only a matter of time before Dubai becomes the crypto and metaverse center of the world."

However, the construction of these areas and the establishment of their functions will take some time. "There is hard work going on in this direction, so you need to decide what services you want to offer and the business model, and then the community as it exists in the physical world," Agarwal further explained.

Dubai was one of the countries that developed a global plan to make the metaverse a profitable industry in the future. The Dubai Metaverse Strategy, a group of directives aimed at making the metaverse contribute 1% to the country's GDP for 2030, aims to provide 42,000 virtual jobs by the same year. Other countries, such as South Korea, are also investing heavily in developing their own metaverse industry, allocating $177 million to this endeavor.

While some don't see the lure of the metaverse for Dubai, Agarwal commented on one of the applications that metaverse technology may have in the future: the real estate market. He stated:

"There is a huge real estate market in Dubai. In the future, people will be able to view the villas, as well as customize the interior decoration to their liking. Once they are satisfied, they will be able to pay digitally."

The country's virtual asset regulator has recently started its activities in the metaverse, becoming one of the pioneers in this space.
