According to Shitoshi Kusama, despite all the uncertainty around the stablecoin, the SHI stablecoin will still be launched in 2022.
In his new blog post, the Shiba Inu leader confirmed that despite the recent collapse of the Luna cryptocurrency, SHI is still in development. However, it seems that it has changed slightly compared to the original vision of the algorithmic stablecoin.
The message also states that the long-awaited TREAT token will also be launched.
SHI stablecoin will be launched in 2022
Shitoshi started his SHI update by addressing the obvious elephant in the room, the algo-stablecoin collapsed. Since SHI was described by Shiba founder Inu Ryoshi as an algorithmic stable coin, this raised some concerns as TerraUSD cancelled the binding.
"Needless to say, SHI is causing concern after other stable tokens collapsed and billions of dollars disappeared completely from the market," Shitoshi said.
According to Shitoshi, the development of SHI was more independent compared to other projects, coming from "a group of developers in our decentralized network."
Shitoshi said that this group has introduced a version of SHI that will avoid the problems faced by other unsuccessful stablecoins. No details about what exactly it will be are reported. Instead, Shitoshi called it an "experimental protocol" and said more details would come closer to launch.
Shytoshi also said that TREAT will help provide balance for SHI. While it sounds like it might be RELATED as providing collateral for SHI, the comments on Shiba Discord suggest that this wording means balancing in a different, unbound sense.
As for the launch, SHI joins Shibarium and the Shiba Inu Game, which is scheduled for release in 2022. Of course, this may change.
The last update regarding SHI appeared in May 2022 from another Shytoshi blog post. Here he said that SHI will start testing soon and that development is going well.
