The leading developer of the popular meme cryptocurrency SHIB on Wednesday revealed plans to expand the Shiba Inu ecosystem with a decentralized stablecoin, a bonus token called TREAT, as well as a card game for the metaverse.
In a Medium blog, a developer under the pseudonym Shitoshi Kusama said that "independent developers" are creating a decentralized stablecoin called SHI. The team expects to share additional information when the development of SHI nears completion, and plans to launch it later in 2022, according to a blog post.
TREAT, the upcoming SHIB metaverse reward token, will be tied to the Shiba collectible card game. The token will also "help provide balance" to the SHI stablecoin, the blog post says, without describing how it will work. The developers also reserve a "limited supply" of TREAT for long-time supporters of the project.
As part of the plan, developers are working on their own ecosystem Layer 2 protocol called Shibarium, which will support the deployment and development of their own applications, including a gas token called BONE. The team is separately building a metaverse project with 100,000 plots of land as virtual real estate. According to the blog post, the collectible card game Shiba Inu, which is under development, will be located in the SHIB metaverse.
The Shiba Inu SHIB token fell slightly after the news, but rose by almost 50% in a week in June amid speculation about the Shibarium protocol. Token ShibaSwap BONE is up 6% and LEASH is up 5% in the last 24 hours.
