Roger Ver could not clarify the situation with CoinFLEX due to lawyers
During the last Bitcoin Cash Hangout session, Roger Ver tried to clarify the situation on CoinFLEX, more precisely, he could not provide any information, since legal agreements do not allow him to say more.
On June 24, the CoinFLEX cryptocurrency exchange announced that it was suspending the withdrawal of funds by users "due to extreme market conditions" and "ongoing uncertainty with the counterparty."
As it turned out later, this counterparty turned out to be a Bitcoin Cash (BCH) supporter Roger Ver, who, according to CoinFLEX CEO Mark Lamb, owed the exchange $ 47 million in USDC.
Ver denied CoinFLEX's accusations and stated that the company owes him a significant amount of money:
Recently, rumors have been spreading that I have not fulfilled my obligations to the counterparty. These rumors are false, and I am currently seeking a refund of my funds.
Due to the fact that the withdrawal of funds from CoinFLEX is suspended, there is a problem associated with the use of Smart Bitcoin Cash, also known as SmartBCH.
SmartBCH is a sidechain compatible with Ethereum EVM and Web3, managed via CoinFLEX, providing a bridge between the main BCH network and the Smart BCH sidechain.
If CoinFLEX goes bankrupt, the BCH locked in SmartBCH could be sold to cover outstanding debts, which could mean the end of the sidechain.
We have to admit that Roger Ver and his unfriendly team in practice could not create a reliable and popular ecosystem around the Bitcoin hard fork Bitcoin Cash promoted by them. But it was conceived as an improved version of the original bitcoin.
