El Salvador has purchased 80 more Bitcoins today, according to a tweet from President Nayib Bukele. A total of 2,381 BTC purchases have been announced since the country made Bitcoin legal tender last September.
"Bitcoin is the future! Thank you for selling cheap," Bukele added, and then winked with a smiley face.

The president also shared a shopping list of 1 Bitcoin, where each coin is priced at $19,000, with time stamps indicating that purchases were made earlier this morning.
Bukele has written several times about Bitcoin purchases in the country since El Salvador made the cryptocurrency legal tender last September. In particular, in May, he reported that El Salvador had purchased 500 BTC at an average price of ~ $30,744.
Based on the various purchase announcements Bukele has made so far on Twitter, it looks like El Salvador has purchased at least 2,381 Bitcoins as of today. However, the current Bitcoin balance in the country has not been confirmed by other means.
While El Salvador indicated that it keeps its savings in Bitcoin, the country's finance minister Alejandro Celaya said in early June that the country had previously sold part of its cryptocurrencies to finance the Chivo Pets pet hospital. In October last year, the head of state said that the country does not sell Bitcoins for the project, pointing out that Chivo Pets will be funded by the surplus of the state trust fund due to the rising cost of Bitcoins.
Bukele is considered one of the most consistent supporters of cryptocurrencies and is confident that despite all the market falls, they are the future. However, not everyone in El Salvador shares his point of view. The local population does not have the financial capacity to buy assets, and prefers ordinary fiats, that is, dollars. However, the President is convinced that sooner or later his initiatives to introduce Bitcoin will be appreciated.
