Polkadot network has introduced a new management system
The Polkadot network has announced the release of a new version of the management system called Governance version 2 (or Gov2)
Thanks to Gov2, the team hopes to significantly decentralize the decision-making process in the Polkadot network. At an ongoing conference called Decoded, the Polkadot team stated that its current management system needs to be rebuilt, as it turned out to be too centralized. It is noted that a centralized executive body called the Polkadot Council has exclusive decision-making powers on issues such as treasury expenditures. The team believes that this contradicts the idea of decentralization.
As a result, it was decided to eliminate this executive body, and for Gov2, the team prepared a software environment that will remove the Polkadot Council and replace it with a "referendum" voting system, thanks to which everyone will be able to make proposals and seek their adoption.
"Gov2 offers new structural elements for parachains in order to create the desired management process while sharing a common infrastructure, which will open up new opportunities for implementing management processes with the right balance between decentralization and efficiency," said Brian Chen, co-founder and CTO of Acala.
The new control system should be launched in the experimental Polkadot - Kusama network in the near future. Later, it will be implemented in the main Polkadot network, while no hard fork will be required.
