According to a Bloomberg report, the supply of electricity to all 118 licensed cryptocurrency mining centers in Iran will be stopped from June 22 on the eve of a seasonal surge in electricity demand, a representative of the country's energy industry said.Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi in an interview with Iran's state television.
In 2020, Iran issued more than 1,000 miners licenses to work. Such steps led to the fact that licensed bitcoin farms appeared in the country, which hoped to benefit from the country's cheap electricity. Iran, in turn, used crypto mining to reduce the impact of sanctions imposed on the country.
Iran has repeatedly stopped the work of cryptocurrency mining centers. This had to be done when the demand for electricity became record. The last disconnection of miners from electricity was in December 2021.
