(no subject)
Various things have changed in the past week, so i thought i'd drop a mundane update for folks...
1. tuesday, my housemate, Scott, got laid off from Riverbend/Sandler Pools, where he was the NetAdmin & IT guy.
2. friday, Scott's car was vandalized by a large rock being tossed into the rear window of the bug. this is the 4th vandalization of this type in the neighborhood over the past few months (all matching the pattern of rock-thrown-thru-largest-street-facing-window-of-vehicle). nothing stolen, just the hassle of replacement.
3. my other housemate, Kate, is working extremely long hours at her job (~240 hours so far in July) and is desperately seeking new employment that won't kill her.
4. my job has (in the past 2 weeks) transitioned from software support for Dell to software/hardware/networking/anti-virus support for Dial-a-Tech, all at the same outsourcer (Telvista), but for $1.50 less an hour. My new schedule is 3-midnight, Saturday-Wednesday. transportation is mostly secured, since a few of my coworkers, who work roughly the same shift i do, are really kind and willing to drive me the 3.5mi to home.
given items 1 and 3, i can't afford to be without a job, period. therefore i cannot transition to ANY new job unless it is a)secure, and b)higher pay (at least $15/hr, pref $20/hr), and c)on the bus-lines, and d)ideally techwriting instead of support.
