You say you want a resolution, well, here goes... we all want to change the world.
New Year's Resolutions
Gundamwingit if I shouldn't be able to accomplish some things this year. And thus I thought, if I publish some resolutions on LJ, I should feel more motivated to keep them...
Keywords of 2012:
- Creativity.
- Spirituality.
- Pathfinding.
- Fellowship.
- Realisation.
This year's horrendously big goals:
- Graduate (the scary moment has come).
- Do this job-seeking thing that seems typical for the adult world.
- Finish two short stories or one novel.
This year's slightly less scary goals:
- Finish at least three oil paintings.
- Finish at least twenty drawings.
- Go from Ljungby to Strömsnäsbruk by bike, stopping in Traryd to visit Grandma's grave.
- Attend or perform a spring blot, a Midsummer blot, an alvablot and a winter blot.
- Finish the roleplaying campaign "The Maker" and start the Viking campaign "Fimbulwinter".
- Create another costume for cosplay.
- Create a piece of medieval clothing.
- Explore the forests around the old grave in Högarör.
- Physical training - a minimum of 100 times.
- Go on at least one conference with the Gamers' Guild.
- Cook lunch and dinner more often. Really, Saga. Really.
- Visit my niece and nephew more often.
- Take care to observe the birthdays and other special days of the people I care about.
- Meditate more often.
- Continue buying ecological food and care about the environment... and convince others of the importance of doing the same.
Things I really, really want to do this year:
- Visit at least two conventions.
- Visit the Medieval Week on the island of Gotland.
- Attend a LARP (live action role-playing game).
- Go to Österlen. No year is complete without a visit to Stenshuvud.
- Go camping, all alone.
- Subject myself to an all-night ceremony.
And some small promises regarding cultural phenomena:
- Read at least twenty books, of which at least five have to be intellectually challenging AND new to me. Thus, re-reading Harry Potter doesn't count. No, Saga, no.
- See at least ten foreign (non-American/ non-British/ non-Swedish) films.
- Buy and play Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (oh, the burden...!).
- Record one or more songs.
- Listen to the musical works of an artist I have not yet discovered.
Well, then. Let's see if I can accomplish all these things. I shall return to and cross out the things I manage to accomplish. I shall also continually add things I may have forgotten to add.
If you see a re-posted and totally crossed-out list at the end of 2013, you'll know I have succeeded.
