Has been a while since I last posted, and it is about time I did something..
Still in the UK with the wonderful
einochiIt's not always easy, but it is always worthwhile, still learning how to live with kids, but I’ll get used to it. There are good days and bad days, but they are great, and I’d not regret being here. One year down, MANY many many more to come. That is if she can still put up with me, and not kill me by then!!
Finally I am working again. After Many, MANY applications and interviews, and so many rejection letters and the annoying no calls or rejections, I have finally found a company willing to give me a job.
It is not the kind of work I usually do, but it has a lot of potential.
It is a sales job, but at least not 'just' a sales position.
I am working for a company called 'MFI'
http://www.mfi.co.ukAnyone in the UK would know this company as they are very big.
MFI are the uk's bigger furniture retailer.
They mainly deal with Bedrooms, Bathrooms and Kitchens.
From small things like taps to complete kitchen design and installation.
right now I am just in training, so a lot of reading, going on courses etc and not much actually selling. (Until my training is over I wont even get any commission)
Unlike some sales jobs, this one is very customer focused. It has not always been the case with MFI and since they were recently taken over by another company they have changed their focus. Instead of trying to just sell furniture to people they now want to help people furnish rooms in the way they want to instead, so they will listen to customers needs rather than telling people what they should have.
I am enjoying it so far, I get to talk to a lot of different people about a lot of different things, one minute it could be helping a couple decide on the bathroom they want, to helping someone plan their new kitchen. Once I have a bit more training, I'll be let loose on the CAD machines and will have lots of fun designing people's rooms etc, that is the part I am looking forward to.
The money to start with is not great as I'm just on a basic salary, but once my training is over I'll get a basic plus commission, so the money I can earn is really only limited to the amount of work I put into it. As it is a well known shop, it is fairly easy to make good money, after all, people generally come into the shop to buy something, which is MUCH better than some sales jobs out there!!
Other than that, we are trying to get the house sorted out so that we can move into a bigger place as soon as possible, 2 bedrooms is far too small for a family of four, and we really need a little bit more space. Fingers crossed it can be done fairly quickly, before we all go crazy here! :)
