karaoke last night

Well, I called Vanessa a blue billion times to see if she was going to go to Gatsby's last night. I had feared that I was going to be on my own, but talked to Sonja and she was planning to go if I went.

Once there, I got a table next to these rednecks. One faked an Irish Accent and by the end of the night could not stop talking about the Soggy Bottom Boys, which Travis and the gorgeous manly girl sang, Man of Constant Sorrow that is. When Sonja got there, she sat next to this man, and was quick to point out that he had a fake leg, you could tell because he was wearing shorts. This other man was dancing ridiculous, but he was at least entertaining. He was sitting with this woman who was wearing black sweatpants, and a red halter top. She sang Blaze of Glory. We were scared but getting kinda drunk so it didn't matter. I think they were sitting with the woman with no bra, wearing pajama bottoms. Sonja and I joked that she thought Gatsby's was hosting a pajama jammy jam.

I sent Leigh and Danny a text message to "bring your ass". They Showed up eventually and we all had a greaat time. Leigh missed Hodgie. I don't really know who Hodgie is, but a while back Leigh and I went to the Acoustic Coffee house and Hodgie read a poem, that was about women loving him, the poem ending with, Oh Hodgie Hodgie Hodgie, and was hilarious. He reappeared last night and sang I'm too sexy by right said Fred. I was thrilled.

Tasha also showed up last night. Two weeks ago she was hammered and showed Vanessa and I her breasts. I told her this last night, and she was embarassed. She kept drinking to a minimum so we had fun with her too. Her biggest flaw is that she's a Marion fan, or Miriam, I always forgett that dude's name, anyway he has a mullet and hangs out at every karaoke event there is.

I sang Helena, by My Chemical Romance. It was not good, and I was really embarassed. Vanessa wasn't there to sing Dream On, so I wanted to try it. It was a lot of fun to sing and I got a standing ovation. It moved me to feeling a high. I later sang Listen to your heart, and felt that was good as well. When I left, the drunk dancing man was outside, and I heard him say, "oh, that's not her, but she looks like her" It struck my curiosity and I asked what he was talking about, and he told me I was angellic, and said other complimentary things that I don't remember, but it was fun watching the bouncers outside try to be friendly with this man, when it was clear they wanted him to leave.

Went to Leigh and Danny's for a bit, they finished their living room. Danny started decorating for Haloween. He was acting adorable last night, he even sang Freedom 90. Sonja came also, and we talked and joked around a bit. I left early becasue I could no longer keep my eyes open. So to Sum it up I had an absolute blast last night and can't wait to do it again!

On a sad note, the lead singer of Sober Otis died. Sober Otis was a local band, fairly well-known, they have opened for the bigger acts that come to this area. I didn't know him very well, but have talked to him once or twice, and he seemed really friendly and sweet. Michael, the karaoke guy passed the tip jar around and was going to give the money to the family. I put in a dollar, I hope lots of people donated. Moment of silence...
