i was feeling pretty ambivalent about this whole legalizing illegal immigrants movement. but the more i hear about this "a day without an immigrant" thing, the more i dislike this idea. first of all, how about call it what it is: "a day without an illegal immigrant"? hey, i am an immigrant, but i am here legally and jumped through all the hoops. i do not want any association with such silliness by the peasantry.

second of all, the organizers of this silliness is comparing this to the great civil rights marches of the 60's. but the inherent fallacy in this comparison is that the marches for civil rights were made by people demanding their inherent rights as legal citizens of the country. and when someone enters a country illegally, they forfeit any inherent rights guaranteed to citizens/legal residents for one simple reason: they are not fucking citizens!!!!!! hence, no rights. and there are legal terms for people demanding and/or taking things that are not theirs by force or threat of force, its called robbery and extortion, which are felonious crimes.

so illegal immigrants, which by their very presence here in this country making them criminals, are going to go out in the open and assemble without permits (another criminal act). to top it all off, they are going to demand something that is not theirs by using the threat of shutting down cities. so to break it all down to it's essence, it's pretty much just criminals congregating to commit more felonies. a more appropriate comparison is having a large gathering of murders, thieves and rapists together on a given day and demanding to change the law, making murders, thefts and rapes legal or else! i say there is only one response to this provocation, and that's let's round up the marchers, and anyone who can't provide valid US identification gets deported. just have a fleet of buses stand by, and as each one is filled, go straight south of the border and dump off the garbage. and they get a thank you much for gathering together to make this process easier, saving us the trouble of having to find you individually.

another laughable idea i heard raised was the no taxation without representation slogan. ok, how many of the illegal workers are paying taxes? the whole point of using illegal labors is that the employer paid them under the table at a rate significantly lower than the market rate! how can employers take out fica and income tax for someone when that person technically doesn't fucking exist in the system?

i have to admit, the liberal side of me is somewhat abhorred at myself for thinking this way. but i can think of no other response. maybe its just my normal distaste for peasants making trouble...

i've also heard some discussions supporting the legalization of illegal immigrants because they are doing work that americans wouldn't normally want to do. And they provide a source of cheap labor necessary in this economic environment. but i propose that people espousing such ideas have not thought their processes through. once the illegals become legal, they will be covered by the minimum wage requirements dictated by the federal government. once they are legal and no longer in fear of being hunted down by the INS, they can work in the open, and they will demand being paid the market rate for whatever job they do. THERE WILL BE NO MORE CHEAP LABOR!!! the only factor keeping the labor cost of the illegals cheap is that they cannot bargain from any position of strength to be treated fairly. if they raise any trouble, all the employer have to do is call INS and have them picked up. once they are legal, the threat goes away, and now the employer have to pay them just like any other american. how about that. and how about the social security the government now have to pay to the older immigrant workers who up to now have not been paying any fica. now they might be eligible to receive that plus medicare and medicaid. personally, i don't care either way since i have no vested interest in either side. but the self-serving idea of making them legal because they provide a service as cheap labor is just about as contradictory in logic as the illegals demanding to be made legal.

my stance on this issue is surprisingly for status quo. let the illegal labors come in as before. there is no need to make it a felony, and don't make it legal either. just ignore it and leave it the fuck alone.
